This restaurant was absolutely amazing! It has such a cozy feel with a really comfortable and welcoming ambiance. The meals we ordered were simply delicious and I honestly cannot recommend this place enough.

There’s a fantastic mix of dishes including chowders, seafood curries, Italian options, and classic American meals. The portion sizes were perfect and the flavours were incredible. I highly recommend the spaghetti bolognaise, shrimp curry, crab chowder, and the mango dessert. The spaghetti tasted so authentic and full of flavour.

If you’re in San Francisco, definitely make time to visit the Blue Mermaid!

We picked Blue Mermaid for dinner. The space is stylish, the menu looked great, and the food delivered everything we ordered was tasty and we left happy on that front. I’m taking off one star for the service, though. Even with the restaurant nearly empty, things were slow and not very friendly.

It was a chilly evening, so we asked for a patio heater. The first one wouldn’t ignite; they tried a second — also a no-go. We then asked about the nearby fire pit. They got it lit, but it faded out after a minute, like the propane tank had run out. Meanwhile we were still cold, and no one offered to move us closer to the only working fire pit, even though there were open tables right by it. Little details didn’t help either utensils were dropped in the middle of the table instead of being set individually.

Overall, I’d still recommend Blue Mermaid for the food and atmosphere, but don’t come expecting attentive service on a cold night.

Excellent food and upscale interior. The calamari was soft and not too chewy on the inside with a nice crisp on the outside. The fish and chips tasted quite fresh as well.

Only complaint is that the menu posted outside (“dinner menu”) was not the menu given to us for dinner. It was missing seared scallops which I was looking forward to. When I asked the waiter, they said only the items on the provided menu were available. Fortunately, the items we ended up getting were delicious.

We had a wonderful experience at The Blue Mermaid at the Argonaut Hotel, and Aaron made it even better! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and gave us great suggestions on things to see and do around the bay, which we really appreciated.

Breakfast was delicious, and we also had their clam chowder as a snack — absolutely amazing! And let me just say, their espresso martinis are outstanding… definitely a must-try!

Aaron provided excellent service, was friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. If you’re visiting the Argonaut or Pier 39 area, don’t miss The Blue Mermaid — and ask for Aaron!

The sourdough bread bowl soup in San Francisco is iconic. The crusty, tangy bread pairs perfectly with rich, creamy clam chowder. Warm, comforting, and full of flavor, it’s a must-try local experience.

My experience here at the Blue Mermaid was one that I’ll always remember. The food was very good, but honestly, it was the service that made the entire experience for me. My server, Brian, went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of. He has such a great smile and so much positive energy. I swear the food tasted so much better because I was being treated with such kindness as if my experience was Brian’s top priority. I wish that every dining experience I have would be like this. To the manager of the Blue Mermaid, you have such a gem on your hands, in addition to great food! The crab and corn chowder and fish and chips were some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Everything about this experience was fantastic.

Want to have a hot chowder badly under a chilly afternoon, searched around fishermen wharf and spot on this one.

The oysters are fresh, but the Chowder sampler is incredibly tasty! Highly recommended

I came with a group. The seating and service was just ok, but it was 1 pm on a Tuesday so I’ll cut them some slack on that front. The food came quick and was absolutely fantastic. I ordered the New England chowder bowl, which was delicious and perfectly heavy on the clam.

My friends ordered the New York steak, the chicken sandwich, and the fish of the day, which was salmon with lemon sauce. Both were shared and were also fantastic. The steak and salmon both came with a great serving of sautéed winter squash and broccoli. We also ordered a side of garlic bread, which was soft and airy but also buttery and very filling. We also ordered 3 cocktails and a beer.

In terms of the atmosphere, we sat outside on the patio, which is nestled in a scenic alleyway between the buildings along Jefferson St. It was quiet and serene.

Everything was reasonably priced; for 5 people we paid around $250, which includes tax and tip.
