This year’s Yelp Elite Event, the Badge Bash, was held at the Kimpton Hotel Palomar, a four-star boutique hotel situated in the heart of downtown Phoenix within the CityScape complex. The event took place at their on-site restaurant and bar, The Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails, which is known for its seasonal, locally sourced, and shareable plates, as well as a diverse selection of craft cocktails. Attendees had the opportunity to network with fellow Elite Yelpers and sample an array of delectable dishes, including fresh Blackened Salmon, Seared Diver Scallops, and Honey and Vinegar Short Ribs. We also enjoyed two of their signature craft cocktails: a “Negroni” and “The Fox & the Hound,” both of which were exceptional. We extend our gratitude to Farrah, Gretel, and all those who contributed to the organization of this outstanding event, and we highly recommend experiencing this remarkable hotel and restaurant.

This was a great restaurant in downtown Phoenix. I went here before a Heart concert at the nearby FootPrint Center. We were somewhat pressed for time, so we just got some appetizers to share. We got fried calamari rings, bacon wrapped dates, and steak sliders.

Everything tasted great and we had plenty to eat for a pre-gig snacking. The decor is top notch and the place is quite decadent & upscale. When I have more time, I would love to return and explore the menu a bit more.

I *love* that they have an actual blue hound sculpture – so fitting & iconic!

I have to say our experience started poorly at the Eden Outdoor Bar through a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings. Details would go on too long, but every employee that we met only want solve problems and make us happy as customers and repeat customers. This would include the Food & Beverage Director who bent over backwards to ensure that we knew how important we were as customers. I can’t tell you how good that makes me feel… to be appreciated and more than just a dinner check. If I could for all involved, I’d give ten stars out of ten here for service (but only permitted five). Food also first rate… served hot and timely and properly seasoned. Zero Issues and really enjoyed every bite. Atmosphere only lacked sitting outside which just wasn’t available, but the cozy booth in the bar was plenty comfortable and surely a great place for our dinner. Overall, a First-Class experience worthy of repeating.

Blue Hound Kitchen is amazing and one of my favorite restaurants in Phoenix. The restaurant is conveniently located in the Kimpton Palomar Phoenix and never disappoints. Chef Gilbert and his team create some amazing and delicious food.

The bar team deserves a medal for surviving the chaos—drinks were on point, service was sharp, and my bartender was basically doing the work of three people with a smile. The kitchen? Different story. Forty-five minutes later I was walking my sad little burger and wedge salad upstairs like contraband. The burger was dry, the bun was sad, and the wedge salad was… a crime against lettuce.

I thought breakfast might be redemption. It was quicker, sure, but avocado toast and the breakfast sandwich managed to be equally tragic—fast food without the fun.

Pro tip: come for cocktails, stay for the vibe, and let your stomach find happiness elsewhere.

Best chicken I’ve ever hard, literally falling off the bone like it roasted for days (but not dry). Dates were wonderful too, crisp yet juicy. Hubs said ribs were delicious. Only negative is parking is a pain, but they do validate if you park in garage off Jefferson just under the hotel (even if there’s an event).

We reserved a table and mentioned that we were in town to celebrate my master’s graduation. Unfortunately, no one inquired about the reason for our visit, which made us feel less welcomed.

We ordered appetizers, which arrived quickly, but just five minutes later, two orders of lobster carbonara were placed in front of us, leaving us confused since we had only ordered one. Our appetizer choices included tuna tartare, burrata, and calamari. We really enjoyed everything except the calamari, which was just okay. The lobster carbonara, on the other hand, was quite underwhelming and tasted almost freezer-burnt. For $40, I expected better quality.

My dad ordered the French dip, but it was very sloppy. I recommend looking at the French dip from the Whiskey Cake restaurant; it sets a standard that this place could learn from. The steak in the sandwich was unseasoned, and the roll was inconsistent and messy. We genuinely wanted to like this restaurant more.

Lastly, we were never asked if we wanted dessert, which was surprising considering we spent over $260 for four people and were treated this way. Overall, we left feeling very unsatisfied and disappointed.

This is one of the best restaurants we have eaten in for many years. We were on a Christmas get-together with our son over the holiday. The steak salad, seafood jambalaya, prime rib dip, and calamari were all outstanding choices. A great selection of specialty cocktails and beers. I nearly licked the plate clean. To finish, we had the sundae, another great choice. We are not locals here but will be back on our next visit to Phoenix. The bartender and wait staff made our meal exceptional, too.

I love the location! Downtown Phoenix has a so many cool places to eat now and this is one of them. Braised short ribs were delicious and would be ordered again. Long hours since they are part of the hotel. Great place for a bite and a drink.
