Our server, Ron, was phenomenal.
I had the potato skins for an appetizer and the buttermilk chicken for the main course. Both were good – especially the garlic mashed potatoes.
The prices were a little high, but the portion sizes were good.
They were well staffed.
Minus 1 star to atmosphere because the music made it hard to talk at some points. But that was because we were right next to the speaker. Overall, the tunes were not obnoxious. And it seemed like they even had a bunch of nose cancelling ceiling tiles to help the room not be echo-y.
The bathrooms were very clean.

My husband and I have visited twice. Sunday late lunch hour is perfect for us. Not too crowded. Tito’s bloody Mary’s are great!! Although price on menu doesn’t match price on bill. Still no biggie because it is still under $10 which is hard to find any where else in Kent County. First time we had sandwiches and were satisfied. Second time Matt had the oyster sampler and Maryland crab soup. I went for the Ceasar salad with Jerk chicken. For dessert by far the BEST carrot cake ever!! It was actually a carrot pineapple cake Definitely found our Sunday cocktail spot!!

It’s a lovely place with an exciting atmosphere. You can dine in or outside on the deck which is the Tiki bar. Beach theme decor. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT EATING HERE ON A WEEKEND SUCH AS FRIDAY AND MOST LIKELY SATURDAY. Not enough wait staff for large parties. Very slow service. Food was mixed feelings. In ordered the pork chop with mashed potatoes and veggie medley. The pork chop was incredible with the apricot-horseradish glaze and fried onions on top. As was the rest of the sides. But the Po Boy my companion purchased was MEH… Yea, plenty of the fried stuff but no slaw like a traditional po boy. Just lettuce. The aioli was good though. And fries were cold. The meals were like night and day. (See images) Quite pricey too!
VERDICT: Will most likely go on a Sunday afternoon or week night.

Had lunch outside at the Tiki bar. The Maryland crab was crawling with crab and would put a smile on any Waterman’s face. The blackened Rockfish sandwich was on brioche with bacon and warmed my heart. It would have made Chef Paul proud his tradition was still a thing.

A must have is the crispy lobster tail small plate!!! I regret not taking a photo before devouring it! Flavored perfectly served with two different sauces. Simply the best! The oysters were a good start to boot 12 sampler of course! And in this pic is the steak n cake! If you’ve not been to this gem I highly recommend. We went as a family with my hyperactive two year old. They had coloring books to help! Love this place and can’t wait to go back. P.S. I hope Ron is your server he’s the best!

August 2025, the Blue Heron had become our go to dinner place, always good food and great staff. They do get busy and sometimes have an hour wait, so go early. May 2025 update. Since the post below, we have been back to Blue Heron several times and honestly I must have been in a bad mood or something was off at the restaurant. Every time since the experience has been outstanding! The food has always been fresh and tasty and the staff enjoyable. I do think it is loud but I think it’s loud in almost every restaurant. That’s my only 4 star in this review. We’ve also day at the bar the last two visits and that is really fun. The bartenders, especially Sarah, are attentive and enjoyable.

I’m sorry to do this as I normally don’t review if I had a bad experience, but, this was not a great experience. My first visit was really good, however, this one was not. The service was great. The food was disappointing. Our app, tuna on chips with seaweed salad and a touch of oil was fantastic. My wife got scallops and while they were fresh, they could have stayed in the pan another minute. My grouper was still pink in the center and inedible. The outer parts were great and tasty but the inner part was borderline raw.
My only other issue is that this restaurant is very loud.
I will most likely give it another try but I will be very critical. I hope they do better.

Absolutely the best EVER! GREAT SERVICE, Great Good, Bar wine, Canyon Rd, yummy. After the hunk of Prime Rib, the huge Tomahawk Pork Chop w fine fried onions stacked on the chop, we were blown away! The oysters were great…I cannot stop dreaming abt this meal! Go early or eat at the tiki bar on the deck. You won’t be sorry but…$$$$s!

Stopped in for lunch after the Sultana Down rigging Festival. Gorgeous Nov afternoon and was able to sit out on the deck. Enjoyed my Word is the Bird sandwich, messy but delicious. Staff was so friendly and helpful!
