There are two locations that I’m aware of in Bangkok, as we were staying at the IHG, Sathorn proved to be more convenient for us, and the staff at both locations were very helpful over email recommending options for us.
The restaurant is housed in a beautiful gracious building which appeared to have been a private home at some stage perhaps. There’s an old world charm in the dining room we were seated in (facing the street but the building is set back from the road, so no noise or disturbance). The staff were welcoming and helpful, you can expect to receive warm appreciative service in Thailand.
We chose a curry, a salad, a beautiful duck dish, and we shared some morning glory and dessert. Don’t be too hung up about what we had, because the menu changes from time to time, but be assured that everything you’re going to order is going to be delicious. I don’t have a gripe about by of it, but if I were pressed to suggest an improvement, I would recommend they amp the flavour up a bit to give it a more authentic feel – that could be by offering a lashing of chili on the side of each plate, or whatever works to give the dishes a bit more bite. Just a tad too europeanised for my taste.
I want to add that the staff and the management went out of their way to ensure we got transport back to our hotel as it was a Friday night and we couldn’t get an uber for a good 30 minutes. They arranged a taxi and waited with us, and made sure we were on our way before returning to their posts. You wouldn’t imagine this happening in any other country.
It’s a lovely place to dine and I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed.
From the moment the first course arrived, it was clear that this was not just a meal, but a thoughtfully curated journey through Thailand’s regional flavors and culinary heritage. Each dish was exquisitely presented, striking a perfect balance between refinement and authenticity. The flavors were bold yet nuanced—layered with aromatic herbs, perfectly calibrated spice, and impeccable technique.
The progression of the tasting menu felt seamless. Highlights included deeply aromatic curries, delicate seafood preparations, and inventive reinterpretations of classic Thai dishes that respected tradition while elevating it to fine-dining artistry. Every bite told a story, showcasing premium ingredients and an obvious reverence for Thai culinary roots. All of this paired with the finest selection of wines by the in-house sommelier.
The service was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, enhancing the experience without ever feeling intrusive. Staff took the time to explain each course, adding context that made the tasting menu even more meaningful. Paired with the restaurant’s stunning colonial-style setting, the atmosphere felt both grand and intimate—an ideal backdrop for such a memorable meal.
Blue Elephant’s Chef’s Tasting Menu is a masterclass in Thai fine dining. It’s an experience I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking to explore Thai cuisine at its highest level—refined, soulful, and truly unforgettable.
The second evening we had Pink Pomelo salad Prawn Cakes, Forgotten Beef Curry and Blue Elephants Famous Spare Ribs. Same dessert because we loved it! Our second we were lucky to have Kookai as our waitress who was amazing i with her suggestions plus explanations.
Blue Elephant hits the mark with a romantic atmosphere, unique fine dining and friendly staff from the moment you walk in to the moment we left.
Don’t miss out if your a foodie in Thailand, thank you so much Blue Elephant team for a best dining experience!
Back at the school we made fresh green chile paste which involved a lot of rigorous pounding to create the perfect consistency. What a great way to get rid of frustrations!
From there we made beef green curry and 3 other dishes.
Finally we eat our creations.
It was great fun for everyone in the class, from the 6 year old boy to the adults.
It’s a great way to experience Thai food.
Dining at The Elephant Restaurant was an absolute delight — a true manjar of exotic flavors and refined artistry. Every dish was a fusion of spices and cultures, masterfully balanced to create a sensory experience that felt both adventurous and deeply comforting.
The ambiance was as remarkable as the food itself — exquisitely decorated with fresh floral arrangements, predominantly orchids, infusing the space with elegance and serenity. Even the smallest details, like the subtle fragrance of the towel, reflected thoughtful perfection.
A special mention to our waitress Kookkai, whose warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism elevated the entire experience. Her grace and impeccable service made us feel genuinely cared for.
A must-visit destination for anyone seeking a refined dining experience in Thailand where every detail whispers excellence. ✨

We decided to try one of the menus and our choice was an excellent one. Different cocktails are offered to start with while clients wait for the staters. The combination of smell and tastes was amazing. I highly recommend to visit the Blue Elephant at least once .
A special shout-out to the Pad Thai and the Mango Sticky Rice. They may be classics you’ve had many times before, but here they were the best we’ve ever tried.
Blue Elephant Restaurant: A One-Star Michelin Thai Cuisine Palace in Bangkok
Blue Elephant is a precious gem located in Bangkok!
The restaurant is conveniently located, just a 2-minute walk from BTS Surasak Station, I saw the magnificent and elegant classical villa , The restaurant building was originally the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, boasting a long and rich history spanning a hundred years.
It features a Westernized style from the reign of King Rama V, There are still two stone lions statues standing
at the entrance.
When the night falls, this classical villa shines even more brilliantly.
Stepping into the gift shops on the left, you can see so many designed products by the chef Noonor including T-shirts, all kinds of ingredients, aprons, cookbooks, etc., ! The restaurant, the soaring staircase is adorned with portraits of famous figures who have visited, including world leaders and a host of celebrities, creating a very luxurious atmosphere.
The restaurant’s decor combines both Western and Thai styles. It specializes in Thai cuisine and has been honored with a Michelin one-star award. Chef had learned from the Gordon blue cuisine School from Paris ! She also learned from her grandmother ever since she was very young! This is why her cuisine is so delicious and popular to all the royal family, high rank business people and tourist, especially her fans!
We ordered delicious dishes such as foie gras with mango, Thai prawn Tom Yum Goong (spicy soup), some of us order the fish, tommy flavor, which is very delicious too ! crab meat with curry is so delicious with chunk of crab leg and crab meat which is nicely served with the black octopus juice bread ! stir-fried mixed vegetables, and fried rice.
The signature flung with a mango or a coconut flavor with the coconut or mango ice cream. It’s a must as well ! As a one-star Michelin restaurant, the quality of the food is absolutely beyond doubt.
With its 104 friendly service , Blue Elephant is a must-visit Michelin one-star Thai cuisine destination for anyone traveling to Bangkok.
Whether you want to savor fine food, soak up the atmosphere, or take photos for social media, this is your best choice. Especially it’ll be very very fun to learn from chef Noonor about her one and only creative cocaine class !
To me , ad a gourmet food critic, It is definitely a restaurant not to be missed!
