Blue Bourbon Jacks is a great place. Even though they don’t serve food, there is a little BBQ place next door and they allow outside food. Their game room is off the chain, equipped with pool tables, dart boards, an electronic punching bag, and other games along with great tunes. Patrons and staff are super friendly. It’s a membership-only bar, but the yearly fee is a mere 15 bucks.

Nice clean place to have a drink or two and get in some bar sports! This place does have an identity crisis because it has most of the dive bar elements without the loud dive bar music, sticky carpet, or fried food?
Passed by this place in the heart of Main Steet. There is parking on gravel around the front and some paved options in the back.
As mentioned in some of the other reviews, there is a $10 Membership Fee but that is good for the whole year. You can have (1) guest, but you have to sign them in. They do not serve food there, and there wasn’t food service. When we were there, we only had the bartender working everything. Bartender was welcoming and professional. She made a great Kentucky mule. Ended up ordering (2) before I left.
I personally think that is a big miss there, not having food or more servers. Having even just a fried bar food menu would definitely make this location more appealing. They currently have assorted chips as the only option.
As well, they used to have live music, but that’s no longer. It is nice that they have music playing, but it’s on real low for people to really talk and hang out. They also have a jukebox but not the classic kind, more of the Spotify flavor.
The bourbon bar is split up into 2-areas. The entry and main area is the long bar top with a number of TV’s and various a selection of bourbons. And the game area with yawn type tables.
They have (2) really nice full-size coin-operated pool tables with the felt in good condition. For more of the serious players, you should bring your own cue. They have coin change machine for the tables, dart boards, air hockey, the breathalyzer, and punch game machine. These are the drive bar elements I mentioned previously.
Karaoke would be a welcomed attraction for this space. They have the stage, and along with the food, it would draw in more people.

Discriminatory at the very least. All kinds of people wearing sleeveless attire and someone from my party was asked to leave because they didn’t have sleeves yet was wearing an almost exact shirt of someone else not being asked to leave. Closed my tab and went and spent my money elsewhere who aren’t stuck on dress code double standards. Kinda absurd tbh considering the level of establishment. Visit High Point regularly but will be avoiding this bar.

I’m extremely disappointed and offended by the service I received at [Blue Bourbon Jacks ]. On [5/12/2025], I visited the bar and ordered two double shots of Patron and two Coronas. However, I was shocked when I was charged $74, which I felt was outrageous compared to other bars I’ve visited.
When I asked about Apple Pay, I was told they didn’t have it, which seemed like a major inconvenience. Due to this, I decided not to consume the drinks, but the bartender seemed to take it personally and attempted to humiliate me in front of others.
To my surprise, the bartender called the cops on me as I left the establishment, claiming I had an open tab. However, the police investigation revealed that no crime had been committed, as I hadn’t consumed the drinks and the bar hadn’t accepted my preferred payment method.
What’s even more striking is that I went to another bar and ordered the same drinks, only to be charged $56. The overcharging and aggressive behavior by the bartender with Blonde hair ] left a bad taste in my mouth.
Given the poor service, lack of payment flexibility, and unwarranted police involvement, I would advise others to think twice before visiting this bar. The experience was unpleasant, and I won’t be returning.

– Consider implementing Apple Pay or other digital payment methods to cater to a wider range of customers.
– Train staff on conflict resolution and customer service to avoid escalating situations.
– Review pricing strategies to ensure fairness and transparency.

Blue Bourbon Jacks is without question the best bar in the city. Now granted, it’s High Point, and the bar isn’t insanely high but BBJ’s would be top tier in any city. It’s got dive bar prices without the cramped run down feeling of a dive, though it maintains all the positive charms of one.
BBJ’s has changed a lot over the last few decades but through that change has grown into a perfect representation of the city as a whole. It’s a wonderful balance of old southern sensibilities and young progressive weirdness. A place for both the poor and the rich to enjoy phenomenal local and touring musicians. Really the only good music venue around. There’s pool, darts, and conversations ranging from the lighthearted and mundane to the serious and consequential. Friendly staff and the owner, Brian, is one best human beings to ever exist. Ten out of ten, would recommend.
Oh but their wine list sucks. Don’t come here for wine.
