Blue Bear Ellison Bay is a restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch, craft cocktails, and coffee drinks. Most menu items are available gluten-free and there are also many vegan options. The restaurant has a full bar and two outdoor patios, one of which is dog-friendly.

Great service. Great gluten free options. We had the beignets, and they were out of this world! I also tried the dark chocolate sea salt mocha, which was fantastic. My husband especially like the gluten free corn muffins. What a gem of a place in Ellison Bay! We definitely will return.

GLUTEN FREE FRIENDS oh my word was that the most amazing breakfast I have had. To start we got a macchiato and a bourbon vanilla latte, to go with that we ordered the GLUTEN FREE Beignets that were truly amazing. Then we moved onto the main meal and had the Blue Bear Benedict which was ALSO gluten free. Soooo many options for GF friends. Cannot recommend this little place enough, a must hit if you are visiting door county!

I can’t say more about this place other than excellent. We have been here twice, once a couple years back and again on this trip up to The Door, and honestly both meals blew me away. This time I ordered the corned beef hash and wow! Unlike any corned beef hash I have ever had but in a good way! First of all it’s really corned beef, like a piece of tender, delicious, slow cooked corned beef, paired with perfectly cooked potatoes and onions. So good I ate the entire thing and I usually don’t eat the entire breakfast. We started with their morning bun, and that was melt in your mouth unbelievably good. I brought the rest of what was left home to my kids, (and we live in Chicagoland) and after heating it in the microwave for 20 seconds they had the same experience! Dip a little bit of that into their jam, puts it over the top. So good! My husband got the smoked salmon Benedict and he was blown away by the flavors! Oh, not to mention the drinks! I ordered the smoked cherry latte, and the flavors were complex and different but very yummy! This place makes us wonder why you would ever try any other place for breakfast!! Highly recommend going here! Even if you are staying in the southern half of Door County, take the drive!! It will be worth it!

We love Blue Bear breakfast! We’ve come here the past 2 years for our annual Door Co. trip and had to stop again. We came in the off season this time and had no wait. They have great sweet and savory options and we love that they serve Valentine coffee.

Had the best breakfast! Everything was so creative and unique. Also appreciated that there were so many items that could be made gluten-free (I’m not GF, but have a number of friends/family members that are, and often struggle to find places to go). You could tell our server, Mary, truly enjoys what she does – she was also very knowledgeable about the menu. We are excited to come back!

Such a gem! Farm to table brunch in a cozy atmosphere. A little pricey for brunch but it was well worth the price. I was between the lox Benedict & the blue bear Benedict and went with the blue bear. It did not disappoint! Would love to come back for dinner.

The most incredible and delicious breakfast AND dinner, yes we went back 2x in one day. The staff, the story, the skill. Highly recommend. The family has truly built something incredible and based around healthy clean eating. The pasta…. Oh the pasta. So incredible as if you ordered from Italy. Hands down. Will continue to return.

Wow!!!! Stop what you’re doing and get here now! Our original plans changed and a local person suggested we try Blue Bear instead. It was delicious. Such a great suggestion.
We had the Blue Bear Benedict withBerkshire ham, potato pancakes, deep fried poached eggs, smoked Gouda sauce, caremelized onion. Yes, you read that right. They deep fried their poached eggs. It was an amazing symphony of flavors and textures in your mouth.
We had the same experience with the Smoked Salmon Benedict. The salmon lox, potato pancakes, poached farm eggs, Boursin habanero cream cheese, arugula, hollandaise all came together and, again, it was another symphony of flavors and textures.
Make sure you stop by here. You’ll be treated like a local and won’t leave disappointed. They also have a covered and heated patio in the back so they can fit a lot of people.

Food was AWESOME. You could taste the quality of the ingredients and the skill in preparing them. Dessert was equally good. They had many gluten free options that my wife enjoyed and worked with us on other dietary restrictions. Ambiance was stellar, and we enjoyed how it was comfortably warm inside! Our waiter, Jesse, was amazing. Super knowledgeable and accommodating, and he talked to us for a while after our meal. We loved the whole experience and we’ll absolutely be back!

My husband and I have been visiting Door County now and then since our honeymoon. We recently spent our 33rd wedding anniversary there this past November and learned that one of our old favorite restaurants was under new ownership, The Viking was now Blue Bear. We were so happy that the building was still there and that it wasn’t closed for good. The restaurant atmosphere was very welcoming and added to our excitement of being there. We had the pleasure of sharing our Door County history of visits over the years with the new owners and our meal was THE BEST meal we had on our trip. My husband and I thank you both, Tesa and Joe, for the most amazing food, the hospitality, the friendliness, warm welcome, the best service, the most wonderful 1st Bloody Mary, and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR KEEPING 1 OF OUR OLD FAVS OPEN. BLUE BEAR IS NOW A NEW FAVORITE OF OURS!
Thank you,
Joe and Lisa
