Blu brasserie is a MUST for fine dining in McAllen! You definitely don’t feel like you’re in the valley at this place. Blu is warm and welcoming and their staff is on another level. This place is WORTH EVERY PENNY.
Milton was our server and was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what wine to serve us when letting him know what we were looking for.
Fernando stopped by and explained the process of how the food is meticulously prepared and where it originated from. The attention to detail with every plate shows & speaks the passion that is behind the scenes.

Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted, and you can really tell there’s serious talent and passion in the kitchen. The wine list is spot on, and the owner, Fernando Rocha, clearly knows his wine. He doesn’t just recommend bottles; he knows exactly how to pair each wine with the food to bring out the best in both.
Fernando’s sommelier skills are truly remarkable. He has an uncanny ability to find the best wines for your budget, making every selection feel thoughtful and tailored rather than simply expensive. Over the past seven years, he has taken us on a journey around the world through his wine list—from standout bottles in California, to beautiful selections from the West Bank in France, to unforgettable wines that are over 50 years old. Every recommendation comes with knowledge, story, and enthusiasm, turning each visit into a memorable wine experience rather than just another meal.
The service is just as impressive. The waitstaff is well-trained, genuinely passionate about hospitality, and incredibly knowledgeable. Once the challenge of finding this place inside the Mercado District we were very pleasantly surprised. We were greeted ave seated immediately. We had an very friendly and helpful server. The atmosphere is wonderful. The food we ordered was amazing with the exception of the mushroom risotto, slightly overcooked and a bit bland. The other 3 entrees and appetizer was great. Large selection of very good wines. This is a no tipping establishment. A 12% service fee is automatically applied, but service and food was worth more. Highly recommend and we will be adding this to our places to frequent.

We thought that our first visit was the most exquisite experience ever, but we were wrong. Fernando and his team curated the ultimate Valentine’s Day menu! We were greeted with glasses of bubbly and I knew we were in for an unforgettable experience. The service is always first class (Milton is a super star) & the food worthy of Michelin’s attention. Every course innovative, elevated and mouthwatering! Our evening ended with a long stemmed rose for me and we even purchased a limited edition bottle of 2015 Dom Perignon x Murakami I’d been wanting!
Highly recommend for any occasion and especially for that special night out. Can’t wait to visit again soon! Thank you Fernando & team for creating such a special gem for the RGV ❤️
