Sleek, modern counter serve for pit-smoked BBQ sandwiches, salads or plates with a choice of sauces.

Inside was different but kind of fun. The service was good. He was very nice. the food on the other hand was very different. The lean brisket sandwich was good. The french fries were very good. the quesadilla was weird. I’m not really sure what it tasted like but the chicken did not look like it was cooked, but we were told that’s how it’s marinated, but it still was just scary to me. The Twinkie bites are not Twinkie at all. They’re just cream cheese and pork. which I was very sad to see because we were wanting something sweet. the queso dip was OK, but it tasted more like hummus to me. I love the idea that they gave you a free piece of cobbler after your meal, but ours was very saggy. for the portion size you get which is on the small side even for sides, it is very overpriced. Unfortunately, we will not be back.

The food was delicious! It was so good, I didnt even take a picture. My family and I dug right in. We had the sampler platter and the cobbler. The service was great and the atmosphere fit the theme. I loved their Alabama and Chicago sauce. I bought a Chicago and Kansas City sauce to take home. Their sweet tea is exactly how a sweet tea should be. Highly recommend.

Blackwood BBQ does not play around.
From the moment the tray hit the table, you can tell this is a place that respects barbecue as a craft. The spread was unreal — tender brisket with a perfect smoke ring, juicy pulled pork that falls apart effortlessly, and sausage with a snap that tells you it was done right. Every protein was seasoned beautifully and smoked with intention, not drowned in sauce to hide mistakes.
The sides? Just as strong. Creamy mac & cheese, charred Brussels sprouts with real depth, rich baked beans, house pickles, and those biscuits… dangerous in the best way. Nothing felt like filler — every item earned its spot on the tray.
Service was on point: friendly, efficient, and clearly proud of what they’re serving. The atmosphere was relaxed but polished — the kind of place you want to bring friends to and say, “Trust me.”
This is legit barbecue done right. If you’re anywhere near Oakbrook or Chicago in general, Blackwood BBQ is mandatory.
I’ll definitely be back.

As someone who religiously doesn’t eat pork, I was happy to learn that everything here is cooked in completely different smokers and there is no cross contamination between their pork and beef products! I appreciated the thorough explanation when questioned. As for the food, the brisket and half chicken were the stars of the show alongside the Brussel sprouts. They did forget to bring out one order of brisket and tried to convince is we were wrong but corrected themselves shortly after. The hype around the mac and cheese is very overrated in my opinion- they were tasteless and oily. The cornbread and salads were also a pass. We enjoyed their selection of sauces and outdoor eating area. We would return!

I enjoyed everything about the place. My food was delicious and appealing. The cashier (Jeremy) was patient while I was making my mind up and the atmosphere was pleasant. The peach cobbler was a turn-off. The taste, texture and looks need improvement. Everything else was pleasant. There was plenty of parking. Will visit again the next time I’m in the area.

Pretty good! We will be back. We used to go to firewater & mission bbq in the area, but weren’t big fans, when we saw this place popped up, we were skeptical…took us a while to stop by, but really glad we did. Kind staff, good bbq, not dry at all, good cocktails, and love the vibe.

Had the brisket and burnt ends, both delicious! The brisket was great, juicy and melt in your mouth good. The side of Mac and cheese was good, the side portions of pickles, pickled onions and Texas toast were all good but the portions were small. Nice outdoor area that was not open in winter but looked decent to grab lunch at.

It’s okay. I’ll give them props for being moist and tender. But ZERO smoke on the brisket, an unforgivable sin when you have “Pit Master” scrawled all over the menu and other in-store advertisements. There’s also no real flavor either – it’s just moist meat. The beans were pretty good, but the coleslaw was a snoozer of a dish. It was advertised as “Signature Cole Slaw” which would indicate that they’re known for it, so I was expecting something special. Nope. Just a mayo cole slaw, that’s it. Just like a KFC Cole slaw or something. No pineapple juice, no extra anything. Just ordinary.

First time here. I got pulled pork with side of coleslaw and beans w/brisket and the cornbread. Everything is the best! Cobbler for dessert was very good as well. Great selection of BBQ sauces! I will drive far to return here. High quality food and great service.
