I had the brisket platter. The fatty brisket was tender, moist, and delicious. The smoked beans were just okay. They were a bit undercooked and tasted a little too much like raisins. The coleslaw, pickles, and pickled onions were delicious as well.
My mom got the pulled pork sandwich, which was loaded with meat. It was tasty, but quite dry.
I like that there are multiple options for sauce.
Service was great and staff was friendly.
I would definitely check out their other locations.

Surprisingly good for being in the hospital, but I see they have other locations. The food was excellent both times we ate there. Lots of sauces to choose from. The brisket was mouth watering good & cornbread is excellent. My husband said the mac n cheese was awesome. The staff was very friendly & helpful. I wish there was a location near me, but it will definitely be my lunch spot every time I’m at northwestern for a doctor’s appointment.

While visiting with my Mom at the hospital; I had seen this place but the first time it was closed . So I made sure that I was able to get a taste tonight. I ordered the Hot links sandwich with smoked beans. I ordered for my Mom , the pulled pork platter which comes with coleslaw, pickled red onions and pickles. I was a little disappointed that the platter doesn’t come with any kind of bread at all…none, zilch, nada. My sandwich was pretty good, a lot of meat and a little onion . Mom enjoyed her platter but was mad that I didn’t follow her directions and just should have ordered her the sandwich. Overall experience is 5 Stars.

I walked around looking for somewhere to eat for lunch while my daughter is in surgery, and the smell of BBQ pulled me right in!
I wanted one of everything, but I settled on a platter with brisket, and pulled pork. It came with coleslaw, pickles, pickled onions, and sauce. I ordered sides of mac & cheese, beans, and a cornbread muffin.
Everything tasted incredibly delicious, minus the coleslaw. I found that to be really bland. The pulled pork wasn’t very hot, but I would probably attribute that to the fact that they had just opened for the day. No complaints on anything else!
Both employees were very friendly and helpful.

Our first visit to Blackwood BBQ. Very impressed! We walked in and the aroma of fresh cooked BBQ was calling. Laurels and Janice were outgoing and friendly and explained the menu items and favorites. When a business has great employees like these two, they deserve recognition. We were at the hospital not having a good day and they made us relax & smile for our lunch. Just had the brisket sandwich today, oh my what a treat! Watching them pull that blackened meat out and freshly slice it. I picked the spicy sauce which had spice but wasn’t hot, which allowed me to taste both the meat and the sauce enhancing the flavors. The sauce amount was also great. I added coleslaw to my sandwich, adding a nice crunch.
So good can’t wait to go back and try more of this menu.

Pulled pork platter with the KC barbeque sauce. They have 6 different bbq sauces to choose from. Food was delicious. Not the best BBQ I’ve had but it was pretty damn good. Definitely beats eating panera or subway all the time. FYI this is a cashless restaurant.
