Okay, now let’s move on to the restaurant. The food was absolutely divine. I am used to eating at expensive restaurants, way more expensive than this place, and I will say my husband and I said these were the best steaks we’ve ever had. I usually ruin my steaks with steak sauce because they don’t have much flavor, but my steak did not need any steak sauce. I don’t know if they marinate them overnight, but my God, they were delicious. I didn’t care for the grilled onions because I feel like they weren’t cooked and lacked flavor, but that was my fault because I was thinking of caramelized onions. In fact, they should probably switch them to caramelized onions instead of grilled. The fresh green beans are one of the most popular sides. They were flavorful with salt, pepper, and Parmesan, but I’m not a huge fan of fresh green beans, so again, that’s on me. My husband ordered steak fries, and I cannot believe he was ordering steak fries at a nice restaurant, but I ate some of his, and they were the best fries I’ve ever eaten in my life. I do believe they are hand cut, but they were flavored very well. He loved his steak and shrimp also. I will say for the price I do believe they should offer bread and butter, but that’s just me. The server was friendly and very informative. For the both of us, I think the bill was $116 (before tip), which is fairly cheap if you’re not going to a franchise restaurant, and my husband left a $50 cash tip because the waiter was nice and explained what dishes paired well together. I’m glad he didn’t check on us every 5 minutes because, honestly, I can’t stand waiters who keep interrupting. As long as my drinks are filled, I am good with that. We will definitely be back.
(Oh, and I will say that they do season their food with salt. It’s absolutely perfectly seasoned to me, but if you’re not allowed to have salt, you definitely want to tell them beforehand. Please don’t be one of those people that complain that there’s too much salt on the food because your doctor said you’re not allowed to have any. ) I usually take better photos but I was in a rush to eat this delicious food.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and would definitely come back to try other dishes.
I had a seafood special with clams, mussels, shrimp, and fish over fettuccine. I was expecting a creamy sauce, but instead it came in a light, ocean-flavored broth. Honestly, it worked beautifully — fresh, balanced, and very flavorful.
A great experience overall.
Fresh local seafood is the highlight, and it’s done very, very well. Creative menu options without going overboard and complementary pairings. Craft cocktail offerings to seal the deal.
Prices are not cheap, but not crazy expensive either, and a good value for what’s received.
Thursday’s are half off apps, and the lunch menu is very reasonable if you’re not trying to do a full dinner experience.
This was a random find for us as we had an Airbnb five minutes away, so had no idea what to expect, literally searched for seafood near me and they were open, and couldn’t have gotten any luckier!!
I was with my Wife enjoying the seafood festival just outside and chose to check out Blackwater restaurant in Yankeetown.
I ordered blackened grouper with garlic mashed potatoes and this is what I got for $20.
The grouper was just grilled with no seasoning it was totally dry and tough, the mashed potatoes was cold also with no flavor. When I told the waitress that the fish was not seasoned as requested she disagreed by telling me that it had the blackened seasoning on it. Totally not fresh seafood and not worth the $$.
Please train your staff to know what blackened fish and grilled looks like.
