Absolutely loved this BBQ spot! The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. The smoky aroma hits you the moment you walk in, and everything from the brisket to the sides was top-notch.Ok service and generous portions—I’ll definitely be back!

This was a catering experience with Blackstrap for a department holiday party. Melissa worked closely with us to ensure that we had the right amount of food and menu for our luncheon. Payment was easy and the pricing very reasonable. The delivery was made by the chef himself and they set up everything with care. The food was fantastic and everyone absolutely raved about the cornbread (that is something that should absolutely be added/included with any order). All around a wonderful experience and a highly recommended caterer.

Awesome first experience at Blackstrap. Sat at the bar and was greeted by a super friendly staff. Good atmosphere and energy for a beer and some food.
My brisket was a little dry so looking forward to trying it again before ruling it out. Their special, poutine, was actually amazing. Can confirm as a Canadian.

By far the best bbq spot I had in Boston. Not everyday you meet the owners who take five star service seriously. If you’re looking for flavor and different spices, this is the spot to go. So many sauces to try that go so well with the meats. You can tell they take the time to properly smoke and season the meats. Got to speak with the owner and he told me the different ingredients he uses and spices, I was blown away by the different ingredients that could work so well together, and come out so tastefully. Definitely recommend.

Nice little place in Winthrop. Atmosphere is great. Good selection of craft cocktails and craft beer.
Food was hit and miss. The vinegar flavor to the pulled pork had a nice zing to it but was a bit overwhelming. The burnt ends were flavorful and tender but could have been crisper. The spicy slaw and mashed potatoes were spot on.
I’d like to come back and try some other dishes, including the BBQ fries. And I disagree with other reviewers comparing Blackstrap to places in the Carolinas and Texas. I didn’t expect the place to be internationally competitive. It’s good for Boston and worth a visit.

If you like barbecue this is the place to go! I’ve been coming here once a month for several months now and plan on doing the same in the future. I always have the onion rings and a few pints of the local craft IPA while grabbing some food to go for my wife. She loves everything on the menu but her favorite by far is the crispy pork, ginger scallion lo mein. They also have a full bar for mixed drinks. There’s plenty of street parking as well as a small municipal parking area right across the street. I’ve never had a problem finding parking. Just a reminder that they only accept cash.

This BBQ gem will have your mouthwatering the moment you walk in and will make you want to take some take out even after you’re done. With its Rustic all American vibe coupled with amazing and friendly staff, this place is perfect any night of the week. The wings are spot on EVERY time and the specials are delectable. I had the spicy chicken Parmesan sandwich which I could not put down!
P.S. if you’re a cornbread lover like me, you’ll be well surprised at how moist theirs is

As a BBQ lover and living near Winthrop, I really wanted to love this place, but it is just OK and the BBQ is not that great. If you have never had Carolina, Georgia, or Texas bbq, the maybe you will be fine with it. First the positives! Christian the bartender/waiter was extremely nice and helpful and sat our party of six quickly. Good drink and beer selection, but might be the first bbq place without sweet tea! Amazing portion sizes but we didnt like it enough to finish. The appetizers are good. Fried pickles are excellent with a good batter that sticks on well. The crab and andouille hush puppies were very tasty with good chunks of crab but the outside was overcooked and too crunchy. The cornbread is huge but too dry and crumbly. The brisket was very tender and had an excellent smoke complexion. Decent smoke ring but no bark included. A few pieces were ok but a few were dry. The pulled pork was much more vinegary that most Carolina bbq I have had. It was almost inedible it had so much vinegar flavor. Also a bit dry. The South Carolina sauce on the side was a bit better than the North but was still more vinegar and not enough mustard. The sweet bbq sauce is standard and good. Brisket sandwich was good but a bit dry. If things were not overcooked and more juicy we might comeback. BBQ sweet potato salad was ok but lacked a bbq flavor and had some undercooked sweet potatoes. Cole slaw…excellent! Mac and cheese was good but not great. Collards were disappointing. Not the sweet blackstrap molasses flavor I was looking for and a bit raw. Nice vibe and an intimate small place. Needs work on the food. I recommend Smoke BBQ in Charleston, SC if you want Carolina pork

HIDDEN BBQ GEM!!! Incredible food and affordable prices. We ordered the bbq plates each as you can choose one to three meats, two sides, and a cornbread. I had corn and bacon salad, mashed potatoes, shredded bbq chicken, chilli, and burnt ends of brisket. I’ve also tried creamy corn, ribs, and the Texas brisket. Everything was cooked to perfection. To be honest one of the best restaurants I’ve been in the Boston area. Worth the drive if you’re staying closer to the city.

First time eating here. Wasn’t able.to get a table due to a party. Ordered food to go. 24 wings for $35.99 (WAY OVERPRICED) and the crispy chicken. Chicken was so dry. Cornbread was dry and the sweet potato salad was not flavorful. Collard greens were the only thing good, HOWEVER; for spending $59.90 it DEFINITELY WAS NOT WORTH IT. WILL DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND OR HO BACK HERE AGAIN!! FIRST AND LAST TIME!!
