Joe was our server, he was excellent! Always checked on us throughout our dining here. He made several great cocktails for us. He was very knowledgeable of the menu as well! Made great recommendations for us! We sat at a booth in the saloon. They offer a several seating options from tables and chairs to booths and bar top options on the saloon side. Main restaurant seating area is booths and tables with chairs.
They recently changed their chef so the food is the best it has ever been according to Joe and we agreed! I had the Braised Beed Short Rib, it was well executed with lots of amazing flavors. My girlfriend had the burger, also excellent, fries were crispy.
Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a great happy hour, they are also doing Prime Rib Wednesdays now. Great steak house with an excellent menu for the meat and potato aficionados alike.

Complete visit to this establishment. Arrived at 4pm that we had a reservation for and waited at the hostess stand for over 5 minutes before I decided to wander around to find an employee and ask if we could get sat down. We arrived to our booth and looked around the place since this is the first time my wife and I have ever been here. I attached pictures of the disgusting things that bothered us. This place is portrayed as a nicer and more expensive steak house which is what we were looking for. When you look at the tables covered in linins you are now in for an experience that deems great customer service, food and cleanliness or at least we thought so. The linins in the tables covered almost the compete table but for some reason they stopped about 3 inches from where the table met the wall. Of course this will catch your eye and to our disbelief we saw and took pictures of what looked like bread and other food crumbs along the wall and table. Flag number one, we then started to look elsewhere and noticed between the seats and wall there was so much food and even linin napkins down there which was disgusting. Food was slopped on the wall and ran down between the seats as well. We also noticed due to ask the black walls it was pretty easy to notice all the dust that seems to have accumulated for months if not years everywhere. Looking around the floor there was food everywhere from what I would imagine the lunch rush. Here is my thing this falls on the manager and bartender since this was in the bar area. I waited tables and bartended for years so I know for a fact there is dead time between the lunch rush and dinner rush. In fact when we arrived we were the one of two tables in the whole establishment, so clean up could have been done for sure. But this was not a simple one day collaboration of dust and food debris. This was days and most likely months collaboration. We were sat by the manager of this establishment and she gave us great ideas on food recommendations, but i must say I have never seen a manager drink wine during their shift and we are taking 3 glasses that we observed her pouring from the bottle to get glass while we were there. But I guess if she gets her duties done then more power to her, however cleanliness of the establishment is one of her duties or delegation of duties.
Food was great we both had steaks that were cooked too perfection, however the bartender recommended a liquid sauce for my steak. I didn’t really like it and I’m glad he recommended to put it on the side. I asked for some truffle butter and it took him over 5 minutes to get it to the table. He went to the other 2 tables took drink orders and made the drinks then delivered the drinks before bringing over the butter to my now cold steak that couldn’t melt the butter. I did eat the steak it was still a great steak. I had a side that the menu stated was $8.00 extra which was fine. It was the mac and cheese which was also amazing.
We received the ticket and there were a couple of miscalculated amounts on there that I discussed with the bartender. One was my wife had a ginger ale but was charged for a ginger beer. He stated they didn’t have a ginger ale button and apologized. The other was he charged me $10.00 for the side item that was to be $8.00, he said the computer was messing up and he would fix both of them. He returned with the ticket with one of the two items adjusted. I caked him back over and let him know the ticket still is showing $10.00 and he said the machine wouldn’t let him change it. He returned with two dollars in cash to make it right.
So a few items to make our first experience to what we thought was to be an experience to match the prices and initial looks of a higher end restaurant.
I must say the food was amazing the cleanliness and inability to charge correct amounts was very disappointing.

We are locals and frequently dine in most of Bend’s restaurants. We have dined at the Blacksteer Steakhouse a few times. Each time unfortunately, the results remain the same; EXTREMELY slow dinner service, very small portions, and very high prices for the amount of food you receive! Worse is the entire staff knows this is a serious problem for them and they have NO desire, willingness, or any sense of urgency to correct it. This poor Service and excessive service times are a product of indifferent staff under the management of permissive owners. I want to like this restaurant, but just don’t! I cannot bring myself or my family to come here again! Poor execution Blacksteer on every single aspect of your dining business!!
See one image of our dinner with a miniscule filet mignon with TWO SIDES!! This provided enormous laughter for our table. The advertised 8 oz. Filet Mignon was half that size at 4 oz. max and the sides consisted of a single tablespoon of butternut squash and 1 tablespoon (exactly 5 halves) of green beans! All this for the value price of $59.00!! Not much value for the money! $$$$

It took me a while to write this review, but I knew I wanted to come back and write it! Me and my husband went to Black Steer on January 3 for a date night and had a wonderful experience. It started with a waiter who had great recommendations. The food was fresh and tasty. We ended up going into the bar section for a couple drinks before leaving and the bartender gave us our drinks on the house because it was our first date night without our baby. I have only great things to say about this place and will be back!

Not worth the price. Ordered the Onion Strips & Brussels Sprouts appetizers. The Brussels Sprouts we’re quite tasty and a very large portion. The onions were crispy, but it seems that perhaps the grease was old or at least needed to be filtered. We ordered the Southern Fried Chicken-there was nothing “Southern” about it. Horrible! Definitely overcooked & overpriced at $27. Serving food that looks and tastes like that, they may not be in business long. We won’t be back.

Given the reviews, they deserve WAYYYY better than 3.5 stars. The food was phenomenal! You could taste all the flavors of each different component, the steak was like butter and was an absolute dream. The herb chicken was absolutely everything I wanted to taste. Don’t get me started on how amazing the butternut squash was and the truffle fries!! Gavin our waiter was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and attentive! The only – ONLY – thing is it was more expensive than I felt it should have been and if the menu was maybe even $10 cheaper, there is still great overhead but I could see it being more enticing for folks to come in. Still, regardless, it was amazing and deserves way better than 3.5 stars! Thank you for the awesome dinner!

The stroganoff I could barely eat it was so strong. The steak was average.
Kids menus small.
Service was so slow , there over and hour before our food came with only like 5 tables filled. Will not ever recommend.
The menus are paper, can barely read… like you want me to pay 150 for less than par food and barely be able to read your menu? Invest in some printer ink. And change around from presenting as high quality restaurant more of a cocktail establishment. One side for food, one side all drinks.

Great, friendly service, intimate lounge, good happy hour menu, best burger I’ve had in Bend. Reasonably priced.
Worth a try for sure!

Ordered one appetizer, waited 45min, ordered ice teas and could not taste anything but water. My plate served before my fiancé.my steak was almost fully raw and because of certain medical issues the meat has to be soft and at least medium well. Took over an hour for these plate then I was told it would be atheist another 10 to 15 for a new plate. When the server return my plate to the kitchen you could hear the cook thow/toss my plate. I ended up sharing my finances plate of stroganoff. It was edible.

We should’ve figured something was up when there were less than 10 people seated at dinner. But we wanted to try a new place. No one saw/greeted us for a few minutes while we stood (alone) at the reception desk.
Our server was amazing! She was attentive and helpful.
The food, however, was subpar. Our French bread appetizer arrived. It was stale and cold. The entrees arrived in a decent amount of time. My steak was cooked well, but was lukewarm and the sauce was cold. The baked potato I had to pay extra for tasted like it was baked the night before and reheated. The butternut squash was ok, but some pieces were under and still crunchy. My husband’s ribeye steak was ok, but nothing to write home about. His fries were tasty.
This meal was definitely not worth the price. We won’t be returning.
