Absolutely love this restaurant. It’s not very close to home but worth the trip. The whole menu, minus 1 item, is gluten free. Many items are also vegan, there are also dairy free options. Very allergen friendly and accommodating. I have celiac disease and need to eat gluten free, Blackies makes me feel comfortable and safe to eat there. I’ve tried several options on the menu and haven’t had any issues. The food is delicious. The GF carrot cake is my favorite dessert and a must have treat. The staff is friendly, welcoming and everything is clean. There is a nice looking outdoor area that I’ve only seen the entrance to from the parking lot during cold months. The only negative thing I have to say is the parking lot is always packed and it can be hard to find a spot.

A great relaxing late lunch. Our service was handling a large out door section alone so took a bit to come say hi but we were in no rush. Frank’s & food were great. Pizza to go was amazing.

Really nice looking restaurant. The service is excellent as well. My only issue with the restaurant was just the mediocre food. Everything looked fantastic. When you tasted it, there really wasn’t a lot going on flavor wise. This restaurant seems to be very big on portion control. The cheese burger Rangoon taste like a burger that didn’t have the patty in it. There was barely any ground beef in there. Even the cups they give you to drink from were very small. I asked for some honey mustard and they actually charge me $.25 for it. I just thought that was laughable. The $30 chicken sandwich was nothing special unfortunately. The chicken was cooked well but the sandwich had no flavor. I ordered the short rib tacos, and it was way too sweet. The salsa that came with it tasted like pure lime. To pay $23 for two tacos, all I can say is that it was a bit of a disappointment. I also ordered a five dollar side salad, which was excellent. The side salad was the best thing I ordered. So all in all, I spent $100 including tip on lunch. It left a lot to be desired.

I’ve been following this restaurant on social media for years. I finally was able to make a day out of coming down, going kayaking, checking out a farmer’s market and circling around to visit the restaurant. The host was extremely helpful in providing feedback on what I should order, and she also gave me a quick tour of the space. I had no idea how large it was.. very impressive! Since I moved to the seacoast from Connecticut in 2021, it’s been near impossible to find good quality food. Even when I go out after work in Boston, there’s just something missing The freshness of the dishes I ordered far surpassed any food I’ve eaten in the area since I moved. I got the short rib tacos, spicy squid and Boston cream dessert. I feel like the dessert could have had more emphasis on the cream, but it’s all so delicious and filling. Best of all, gluten free!

If you’re considering Blackie’s—go. It will not disappoint. The ambiance, service, and food are absolutely AMAZING.

GLUTEN FREE ALERT:
My wife has had celiac for 10 years, and we’ve tried just about every gluten-free option in Boston, Worcester, and now Providence.

Blackie’s takes the crown. Hands down the best gluten-free dining experience we’ve ever had.

✅ Dedicated gluten-free pizza oven (yes, really!)
✅ Gluten-free quesadillas
✅ Gluten-free chicken tenders
✅ Gluten-free cornbread

The quality and care are off the charts. You can actually relax and enjoy the food without second-guessing anything.

When are they opening a location in Worcester—and can I invest?!

Cheers

Definitely won’t be back, which is disappointing because the atmosphere is great and the bartenders are attentive and provide excellent service. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The food was just okay, but the biggest issue is the pricing, which feels excessive.

We ordered three drinks (one was just a local beer), an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms that cost an outrageous $25, and two sandwiches. With tip included, well deserved for the bartender, the total came close to $150. The quality and portion sizes simply didn’t justify the cost.

I’m honestly not sure why this place is always so crowded.

The food and the service was stupendous! The drinks in the other hand need some help! We enjoyed gluten free spinach and ricotta calzone it was flaky and crisp with the most delicious cheese oozing out of it. Amy enjoyed the chicken melanase cooked to perfection I enjoyed an amazing pasta dish with thin ribbons of zucchini and haves of delicious grape tomatoes all based in the most delightful butter and oil this plate should be served with some sort of yummy toast triangles or a small garlic baguette but other than that there was no wait we were seated with drinks in minutes thousand precent worth checking it out especially gluten free people

Been here three times trying to give it a fair chance. For the menu prices, the food really falls short. $22 for a turkey sandwich that’s not served with fries. they give you unsalted, which tasted stale, bland potato chips. No napkins with the togo order.
The menu is also pretty extensive, and looks good at first glance. But everything i’ve ordered has been painfully mediocre. This place is good for corporate gatherings, but if you’re spending your own money – don’t.

Our server was Nicole and she was absolutely amazing! This was our first time here and my husband likes to bust chops and she knew exactly what to say back to him lol, she was very nice, very informative about the food and answered all our questions. The food and drinks were a 10/10 we will definitely be back and we definitely recommended this restaurant

I went there for the first time yesterday and was very impressed with the menus and atmosphere. It was hard to choose what to order because there were many options that sounded good. We got the chicken marsala stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and flavor-wise they were awesome, however i guess i didnt expect the chicken to be pulverized and mixed into the whipped cheese and herb spread. If it wasnt listed as having chicken in it on the menu i would not have believed that there was chicken in the dish. They offer an up charge to get two pieces of crostini with it which honestly they should just tack onto the price and give the bread with it. The sauce in the pan is begging for bread dipping. Just charge what you want for it and start serving it with the same amount of pieces of bread as there are mushrooms.

I ordered the Calabrian Kiss and my server warned me it was “hot.” I asked how hot was hot and even though they said it was 7/10 i had a feeling that was a big exaggeration and IF it were to end up being too spicy for me i did have the option to order something else. The dish was less spicy than some Buffalo chicken ive had. Its not even a 2/10. And im not a spice freak.

I definitely would and want to go back and try more of the menu. They just might need to reassess how things are described
