We recently visited Black Finn after a sporting event, hoping for an enjoyable dining experience. However, the food turned out to be a bit of a letdown. The presentation was visually appealing, but my dad, who ordered the fish and chips, received a battered fried flour instead of the expected piece of fish. I believe it was haddock, but it was quite disappointing. He had to dig through the crust to find a small amount of fish. To make matters worse, when he inquired about the preparation method, the waitress was clueless and refused to ask the chef about allergens or any other relevant information. On the other hand, my mom’s sandwich was equally disappointing. It was mostly cheese, leaving her with very little meat. Unfortunately, it didn’t meet the expectations we had for a good meal. Overall, Black Finn fell short of the standards we had in mind.

I mean this respectfully, but this was awful. Service was incredibly friendly, but equally slow. 30+ minutes to get a Guinness (I know it’s St. Paddy’s day), likely a new bartender or server? The spicy shrimp was super tiny. I wasn’t a fan of the charred Brie. Took away the flavor of the cheese. The calamari was non-existent. It was less than tiny calamari, and mostly tempura peppers (which was actually the best part of the dish), but it was mostly batter. Supply chain issues maybe? The best part of the meal were the fried pickles, because I appreciated the thin slices of the pickle chips. Well seasoned too. Just an odd experience overall. For the price, this place isn’t it, compared to the other places nearby with similar items at better quality and price points.

We went with 3 different apps. I couldn’t decide on just picking 1. All 3 were so good. This place is in a great location. It is a great spot for watching a game, a quick bit to eat or just hanging with friends.

First time eating there following a workplace event. Ordered the Balboa. Save your money! It wasn’t shaved prime rib. The meat was rubbery slices of roast beef that had zero flavor. The single piece of cheese trying to cover a 10″ sub offered no help. Put it this way, Arby’s is better and they suck. I only gave it 2 stars because the waiter did his best to keep up with the group. I would NEVER eat there again.

The Food is Superb!!!!!! I recommend the Key Lime Samon and Ying yang shrimp. Utterly Scrumptious and then some!!! All the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is laid back and inviting. Speaking of staff, Mekhia is simply a JEWEL!! You won’t find a better host in the entire city of Charlotte. Blackfinn is where it’s at!! Keep up the great service guys.
