This is one of my favorite restaurants, hands down! The buffalo bites, steak, ribs, and garlic butter are all to die for. The atmosphere is pleasant and service is top notch! It is a bit expensive but well worth the price tag!

I had a burger and a Mango Claw sparkled water. It was good plus everyone in the staff was super nice and polite. I think I’d definitely come back since I forgot to take a picture of my delicious burger. I assure you my next post will come with a picture of my meal.

Beautiful reastraunt with a gorgeous view. Service was great. Our waitress Alley, was amazing. We would definitely recommend eating here. I had the Honey Orange Salmon and it was delicious. My husband had the black woods Walleye. We also had the pretzel bites with beer cheese. These were also delicious.

First visit to Black Woods Bar and Grill. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Appetizer was the pretzels and beer cheese, DELICIOUS!! Wife order the prime rib. It was dry and overcooked, she ordered medium-rare and it was more medium-medium well and flavorless. I ordered the bone in Ribeye. It had good flavor and juicy but was also overcooked. I ordered it medium and was more medium-well. Pretty pricey but we knew that going in. Perhaps remember to order undercooked to your preference. For the price paid we weren’t impressed.

This was my anniversary dinner restaurant selection. All items listed on the website were not on the menu. I had the Pasta Santino, which was pretty good, besides minimal crab pieces. My wife, on the other hand had, Smoked Gouda Medallions. Her food was a bit on the bad side. Steak said medium and came out well done. Sweet potato took up half the plate (overly big), and green beans were not edible. Green beans were hard, tasteless, and prepared terrible. I wouldn’t even give them to my dog!!!

After posting the review below, I was contacted by Black Woods Grill & Bar. The restaurant apologized for the experience I had on August 1, 2023. They graciously offered to send me gift certificates for a return visit. I consider that a class act from a restaurant and I do plan to return to Black Woods on my next visit to Duluth. Bravo, Black Woods! Thanks for listening and working toward providing a satisfactory experience at your quality restaurant! My first review: “Disappointed. The server spilled my drink. Kind of cleaned it up with a tiny bar napkin. Said he would bring me another which he did. Charged me for two drinks. Didn’t want to object due to others with me. I did expect better from a place I often visit when I’m in Duluth.:

My wife and I had an impromptu lunch here while visiting family in Duluth. It was a great experience. We started with the Bulldog Bites, they were very good. Then, I had the Chipotle Steak Salad. It was very good, the steak was done perfectly. My wife had the mushroom ravioli and she loved it! There were mushrooms inside the ravioli in a mushroom sauce. Our waiter, Bryce was excellent. He was very polite, patient and attentive without being overwhelming. This restaurant has a great view of Lake Superior. Great experience. I’d go back.

Normally I really like this place and the food is always great. My last trip, however, was not that great. The service was good as usual. The food, not so much. I had the pan-fried walleye which was dry and very fishy tasting. I’d give it 1 star out of 5. Super disappointed for 1 small fillet at $29 bucks. She had a ribeye that was just ok. Will definitely be back as I’m hoping it was just a off day for whatever reason.
