I’ve been in town for the week, and have already tried just about everything else in two days, and was excited that this restaurant was open on Wednesday. I think this will be a regular spot for the rest of my stay! I’m really surprised, and very pleased, that a town this small has such a high quality restaurant like this! There menu has lots of selection, as do their taps. Lots of food, and beer to choose from. I tried the smoked roast beef, and when that plate hit my table, I could immediately smell the flavor. It was tender, smokey, and delicious. I could have really devoured a second one, not because it was small by any means, but because my belly was finally happy with delicious food and beverages, rather than generic Mexican or chain sandwiches. Instead, I tried the dessert rolls. What is a dessert roll? I had no clue, but don’t let that scare you. It’s like an egg roll, but sweet, fried too perfection, and drizzled with more flavor. I’m here for another week and a half, I cannot wait to return to try more.
Update: Back in town, and back to Black Sheep. I finally got to try the pizza, which was definitely very good. They are not “pre-made frozen pizzas” like you would get from the store, they are made in their own kitchen from their own fresh ingredients, then vacuum sealed and frozen ready to be baked to order. The crust was crispy, the smoked meats were smokey, the cheese was cheesy. If you want “fresh never frozen” go see Wendy, you’ll eat something that was frozen at every restaurant you go to. If you want handmade pizza with quality ingredients that’s not from a chain or gas station, come here after 9PM.
Also, I finally got to meet Ellie, and as others have said, she is awesome

This is hands best place we have been to. We travel around alot to local tap houses and this one has them all beat. Elly was our server. Her vibe is off the charts. So sweet so bubbly and very knowledgeable about the products they sell. The food so amazing and the people were great. Although it is a 4 hour drive for us. We will be back !

The building really cool, the inside environment is awesome, and the food… Just wow! I had the sweet potato fries and the smoked French dip and it was absolutely amazing! They hype their pizza menu up like they make it fresh. These are frozen pre made pizzas. I’m pretty sure there are jack links beef jerky bites on top. If not it sure tastes like it. Over priced, and over hyped. 18 dollars for this?

The Black Sheep Tap House in Phillipsburg, Kansas is a hidden gem! The drinks are strong and reasonably priced, making it a great spot for a night out. No matter what meal you order, it’s guaranteed to be delicious and filling. But let me tell you, the real star of the show is the bartender Elly with sparkles! She’s always working with a smile on her face, and her funny and charming personality adds an extra sparkle to the experience. Trust me, you won’t be able to get enough of her!

This place was definitely a diamond in the rough. Phillipsburg is pretty far out of the way, but the next time I’m in town I will be stopping in again!
The food was fantastic. I ordered some mango ghost pepper wings that were on special. I expected to get some kind of syrupy sweet sauce with some heat. What I got was both wholly unexpected and wholly delightful. The wings were perfectly crispy and pleasantly large with a spicy mango purèe topping. I was taken aback by how genuine all of the food was. I spoke to my waitress who told me that they try to make everything from scratch and it sure showed.
Also shocking was the price. Despite the effort that undoubtedly went into preparing the food, the price was far more reasonable than it had any reason to be. The quality of the food far surpassed my expectations for the reasonable price. The value was outstanding.

Incredible place to have in a small town. Heavy smoked dishes along with other great options and appetizers. Weekly specials are always extremely good, Huge cocktail menu and rotating draft beer list with local options, along with all most popular beers.

The employees are wonderful and care about each customer as if you were family. The food is amazing, real comfort food at a more than fair price in this economy. The owners are hardworking locals; who against all odds built not just a place to eat but a place to enjoy your time. I could think of no better place in a hundred mile radius to have a meal or drink. Once you’ve tried it and you see what I’m talking about join me and leave a solid review. Give them all the good PR we all know they deserve.
