There was nothing “speakeasy” about our experience in the dining room; We sat in the dining room, the lights were bright, no hidden entrance. The back bar area was red, dark and looked more of the speakeasy vibe. The service was slow but fine/server was polite and apologetic for the speed. The food was pretty good. The cheese board was great as were the cocktails! I think I was underwhelmed because of the expectations I had. I thought it would be a fun experience and yes, the rabbit decor was whimsical, but there was no hidden entrance to anywhere that we saw. Some guests were dressed in 20s attire which made of fun. I’m glad we tried it.

I had a wonderful date night at The Black Rabbit! It was a fun dining experience, really great ambience throughout and excellent service as well as food. I am really big on the quality of service and all workers were excellent and attentive and always available and checking in. A huge shoutout to the bartender who made some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. He really knew how to make some amazing drinks! If you’re looking for a cool atmosphere, fun speakeasy bar, good drinks and food definitely check this place out!

The atmosphere is great and the food is amazing. My 1st drink was a little weak, but they MORE THAN made up for it with my 2nd. Highly recommend!

I first visited Black Rabbit’s speakeasy a year ago for my birthday and it was easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Louisville and completely worth the price. I unfortunately cannot say the same for my visit yesterday evening.

I was so excited when I found this place as having moved to Louisville about 6 years ago I’ve struggled to find places that actually deliver on the experience, unfortunately this place missed the mark as well. Came here for my anniversary, stated that on our reservation as well. Everything started off good, waited at the bookshelf, gave them my name for reservation and was let in. Unfortunately that’s where the good parts pretty much ended. As we were being taken into the far back room, there was an employee watching YouTube videos (takes away from the speak easy feel) we were sat at what looked like a thrown together table, 2 short stools and a very small table that looked like a metal upside down laundry basket with a wood top. Our first server came to get our drink order, he seemed very knowledgeable. When we mentioned our seats and table, he told us “Yeah, I didn’t think they would actually sit anyone here”. We received our drinks and waited for our server to come take our food order. By that time my back was killing me from the seats we were in. They offered to move us which we happily agreed to. The new area we were sat, near the bar was nice. Unfortunately we were given another server, this one wasn’t as attentive. He took our food order. My wife and I talked, tried soaking on the atmosphere but it was being ruined by the random tvs. One had a space program, the other 3 stooges.(again takes away from the speak easy atmosphere) our food arrived, my wife had the porkchop which had a nice flavor, however the sides for it did not have everything they said was in it. I had the fried chicken, the breading was burnt, the chicken had 0 flavor, mashed tasted off, did really enjoy the sweet balsamic collards with the dish but that was about it. During that time we got our second drinks, first drinks very good, second round seemed like we got incorrect orders. We Left wanting. I really was hopeful but, with the lack of attentiveness of service, the overall quality of food and drinks, and the missing atmosphere of a speak easy, the search is still on.

A very impressive speak easy. Easy to get to. Reservations required. At first I thought this was a bummer but once we got inside things changed immediately. Atmosphere was fantastic. Lights turned down. Minimal crowd. Very comfortable chairs and couches. Little nooks here and there to sit. Only one TV screen that I saw and it was showing old videos of the prohibition Era. Super relaxing place. No noise. Couldn’t hear the TV from 10 feet away. Server was efficient and congenial. As a speak easy entrance was hidden. Admittance was only upon confirmation of your reservation. Completely enjoyed ourselves. A bit pricey but was truly a one of the kind place. Looking forward to my next birthday there.

Arrived early and got our favorite table. The manager showed us the way, took our drink order about the music and the volume. A waitress arrived with our drinks. Very prompt and courteous.
