Not my most favorite meal. Also a bit confused by what they were offering since the meal I got, mushroom ravioli, was $10 on the specials pricing and I was charged $27. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t wanna be rude, plus the place was really cute and I really liked the environment I was in. Still, confusion on all, I don’t think it was my style of food. It is mainly German food, still a great experience.

It was very authentic German restaurant run more than 40 years by German originated family! Even though there were lots of people, food were delicious and came quite quickly and deserts are very tasty

It was a little noisy but it was also very busy with parties. The food was excellent. Our waiter was new, his first night on the job, he did pretty good for a newbie!

Tonight we had one of the best meals we have had in awhile. We had the sausage sampler, beef stroganoff, and Christmas Goose. I recommend each one. Our server was outstanding. I didn’t catch his name but he recommended a really good dark beer for me and was very helpful with suggestions.

Black Forest Inn has been operating for over forty years, yet the beautiful restaurant is in perfect shape, staff is as excited to be there now as they were when they started – many as far back as 20 years ago! More than a beer hall, this is German fine dining. It has something for everyone – from Biergarten staples to truly creative cuisine. Many American dishes have their root in German cuisine so it behooves anyone to try and be amazed. Seasonal choices pop onto the already expansive menu – think wild boar in cider or venison. Schnitzel three ways, with two meat options (pork or veal). All the classics. Everything made by the second generation executive chef, who has been on tv and in magazines recognized for his excellence. His children are learning the ropes too, already a decade in. This is one of the best of New Jersey. Try it and you’ll be a fan for life.

Had a wonderful German dinner with friends. Jerry our server was fantastic. Very helpful and a joy to have her tell stories it completed our night. The food reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking. Rolodens were out of this world so tender. Red cabbage was great. The pork shank was large crispy and tender. We will be back.

Very enjoyable evening where everyone found something to suit their palate, and I got OYSTERS on the half-shell, my all-time favorite dish.

Delicious, authentic German food! The building is delightfully kitschy with stained glass hunting scenes, German tchotchkes and servers in Tracht. Everything I had was perfect: flammekuche like straight out of Strasbourg, tender Christmas goose, delicious Maultaschen, and glühwein for Christmas spirit. The only downpoint was the pretzel “stick” with the sausage sampler, which seemed like the frozen ones you get in a cafeteria. Skip it and get a potato dumpling instead. I’ll definitely be back.
