I’m usually a lenient reviewer but I am going to have to give this place bad marks. I had high expectations on this cafe but may be it’s just their off day.

I’m visiting from Chicago and this was my first time at Black Dog. My dad talked it up and they did not disappoint! Service and recommendations were on point! The gentleman behind the counter recommended the Kouign-amann pastry which is absolutely amazing. Also had the Specialty Snickers latte. Thoroughly enjoyed this place and will definitely be visiting again when I’m back in town!

One of my favorite ☕️ shops in the greater KC metro area. Rich, flavorful and nutty coffee for the house blend. Plenty of coffee drinks for everyone. Quaint setting with indoor and outdoor seating. Offers breakfast and lunch items. Go today and shop local!

There are many wonderful things about Black Dog, but the fresh Ibis bread made in house is a top highlight. This place is almost always packed in the mornings when I’ve visited, so I generally prefer to order coffee (or a delightfully spiced chai and maybe some pastries) to go, along with a loaf of bread. The Rosemary Olive available on Fridays is my personal favorite, and the sweet Cranberry Walnut, indulgent Cheese Slipper, and classic Country loaves are also delicious. Just tried the Rosemary Polenta, also great!

Fun yet relaxing coffee shop in Lenexa that offers more than just coffee! This coffee shop also serves Ibis Bakery goods: mouthwatering croissants, pastries, cookies, and more. I ordered the drip coffee while working. The staff is friendly when you ask for your coffee to be filled up a bit/warmed! I also ordered the Ruben Sandwich & the Soup of the Day for lunch…amazing! Black Dog Coffeehouse is a fantastic spot to work remote because there is plenty of seating and coffee/food options to keep you full & happy!

This coffee house/scratch kitchen is super close to my house. I’ve been wanting to try it out for awhile. I was super overwhelmed with how busy it was, I was surprised I was able to find seating. The line was moving super quickly though.

My favorite coffee shop in KC! The drink and food selection is great. I love all the open space and there is always somewhere to sit that is more lively or quiet depending on what you are looking for. The staff is wonderful and always friendly to anyone who comes in.

Standard coffee shop atmosphere, with lots of seating and nooks and crannies to sit in. Ive been coming here for years and they always have good coffee, pastries, and food. Great place to study or work! And they always have fun seasonal drinks!

This was our first time going to Black Dog Coffee. The place was almost full with only a few tables available. I don’t know if it’s because there was so many people or if the ac isn’t low enough but it was slightly warm inside. I ordered an iced latte but when called to pick up it wasn’t. The Barista/cashier had even repeated and confirmed that I wanted iced. When I brought this up to the guy that was at the pick up he side eyed me and even when I left to sit to wait he kept glancing over. Too be honest once I finally got my iced latte it tasted watered down and with little to no flavor. Maybe it was just an off experience because a lot of people like it but to us it was just not a fit. I also bought a brownie it was good, just not good enough to go back for it. In total my cost was about $16 for the brownie and 16 oz latte plus tip which was fair pricing. Edit: I’ve really have been reflecting and this place deserves a one star.
