We had such a wonderful evening at Black Cumin. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. We began with the Gol Gappa and Papdi Chaat, both bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. The Chilli Fish was perfectly spiced, and the meat sizzler (featuring Gilafi Seek Kebab, Tandoori Murgh, Murgh Malai and Salmon Tikka) arrived sizzling hot and cooked to perfection — a real showstopper!

For mains, we tried the Chicken Lababdar, Kerala Prawn Curry, Black Cumin Duck, and Gosht Biryani. Each dish was rich, balanced, and full of depth — you could really taste the quality and care that went into every plate.

The service was just as impressive as the food. A special shoutout to Reet, who looked after us so attentively throughout the evening — friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel so welcome.

Black Cumin is easily one of the best Indian restaurants in Bristol. We’ll definitely be back soon!

The best Indian restaurant we have been to in at least a decade.

Superb!

This is not a run of the mill curry house. This is Indian cuisine at its best. Tasty, interesting with some unusual items on the menu (such as apple and beetroot dips with the poppadoms).

We cannotvwait to return.

Amazing meals and very nice atmosphere. We had the Chaat starters, lamb shank, Lababdar (one chicken and one veggie) and naan and everything was super tasty!
Shout out for our waiter Amresh for giving us good recommendations and for the brilliant cook Amam!

No faults! Great tasting food at average price (if paying full price as we booked on first table). Starters were incredible! Great staff and a friendly yet sophisticated vibe. Their mango mocktail deserves an honourable mention for portion size and deliciousness!

A hidden gem tucked away in Clifton, Black Cumin has only been open for two years and is serving up refined Indian dishes with a modern twist.

We started with a beautiful selection of small plates — gol gappa, papdi chaat, Peshawari pudina chops, and achari prawns.

I wasn’t a lover of the gol gappa but the lamb chops were a standout – coated in a spicy, salsa verde-style marinade.

For mains, the Kerala prawn curry completely stole the show. Creamy and rich thanks to the coconut milk, the prawns were proper juicy.

The Champaran meat (a slow-cooked goat curry) was another favourite, layered with spice and warmth, and the chicken lababdar and rogan josh – all generous and comforting.

A friend took me there because it’s one of his favorite restaurants in Bristol. It’s indeed a great place. The food was rich and perfectly spiced (we ordered a lamb dish and a vegetarian one, plus a serving of Nann). The ambience was wonderful as well. We were the first guests for dinner, so the place was super quiet and the waiting staff super attentive.

This restaurant is extremely delicious. It’s the best one I’ve eaten at during my two weeks in the UK! Moreover, the service here is excellent. I’m very grateful for the service provided by the staff. They are REET,MANISHA,SHAMEEM,they were particularly considerate and gave us the best dining experience, trying their best to meet our requests. This is a restaurant I will definitely come back to in the future!

I had ordered off of Deliveroo, the food was okay until I pulled out a long black hair from the masala! I contacted the restaurant to make them aware of the situation and the call handler had got very argumentative refusing to believe me. An refund wasn’t issued either, won’t eat here again.

One of the finest and scrumptious Indian food restaurants. The restaurant has extensive range of cocktail menu. They made couple of them out of menu for me. Wow! Now, food – presentation, taste and portion is good. The owner came to table and suggest you as per taste and dietary requirements. We had pakora, samosa Chaat, chilli paneer, Matar chilli, paneer curry, tadka dhaal and rice…
I highly recommend you… it should be in your list to have at least once.
