Reviews
For our main dishes, we ordered the ribeye and the snow crab. The snow crab had an upcharge for the lobster mac and cheese side. The rib eye was a bit bland and overdone. For advertising broiling their steaks, the top was not very crispy. The flavor lacked. They advertise having their own house seasoning but I tasted only a hint of salt. We asked for medium rare and it came out medium to medium-well. The crab also was completely flavorless. I mean incredibly flavorless. On top of that, they provided only butter (which didn’t even have the flavor of butter so I have no idea what it actually was) and a lemon. The lemon definitely helped. They also pre cracked the legs which was nice, though not so helpful when there is no flavor to be tasted. Very very disappointed in the main dishes – especially for their price. The lobster mac and cheese was just average. Nothing fancy. Then we ordered desert and got the creme brulee – this was really burnt and the sugar wasn’t fully flamed still… I was eating chunks of sugar which was not enjoyable. It came with a rosemary cookie which was hard as a rock as well.
We had an older woman as our main waitress who was VERY New England. If you aren’t familiar with New England culture, you might definitely think she was rude. I think it was just the culture though at a nice restaurant like this, I would expect a bit more filter there.
While the overall experience was nice, the food was so overpriced for its quality and I am so deeply disappointed. I took my boyfriend there for his birthday. For a bill almost $300, I would hope the food was higher quality and had true flavor to it.
Menu is classic steakhouse and we found execution was very high quality. An entree of steak Oscar was properly seasoned and cooked exactly to order. As the filets are small it’s a dish easy to overcook but they were tender and juicy at medium rare. Scallops entree also came out just right, four big fat scallops over crab asparagus risotto. Very good. A side of hash browns was three big slabs of mashed potato coated and fried. It’s classic steakhouse to have large sides.
Pricing is in line with competitors. Service was friendly and professional, and the orders came out promptly from the big kitchen visible at the back of the restaurant.
There are vegetarian options, and okay for gluten free, too. Children would be fine and the room is definitely handicap accessible.
Parking is on the street with a big public lot nearby, too.
The food, unfortunately, did not redeem the experience. The steak tartare arrived pre-made and overly saturated in sauce, compromising its freshness. We ordered a Caesar salad with white anchovies, but it was served with red anchovies and lacked flavor. My medium-rare ribeye was cooked nearly to well-done, missing the mark on preparation. My wife’s she-crab soup was unexpectedly sweet, resembling a dessert more than a savory dish, and we left most of it untouched. Regrettably, our waiter did not acknowledge this or inquire about our satisfaction.
On a positive note, the oysters were satisfactory, and the sorbet stood out as the highlight of the meal, though it seemed likely sourced externally.
At over $150 per person, the value did not match the quality of the experience. We had hoped for a memorable meal, but given the inconsistencies in service and food, we recommend exploring other dining options.
Needless to say, we won’t be back..
