My husband ordered a Buffalo Trace bourbon, and instead of letting us know it was unavailable, the waiter brought out Angel’s Envy—which is $3 more—without asking if that substitution was okay. Transparency about inventory is important, and we would have appreciated being told before anything was poured.
The food itself had some highs and lows.
– Steak: Absolutely delicious.
– Wedge Salad: It was missing the balsamic drizzle, and the bacon didn’t taste candied as described. I also would’ve preferred the tomatoes cut the same way as the cucumbers so the veggies felt consistent.
– Brussels Sprouts: Fine, but nothing special.
– Mexican Corn: Very good.
Communication became an issue again when my husband specifically asked for no sauce on his steak, yet a sauce was still brought out—and we were charged for it. When we looked at the bill, the two drinks plus the extra side added up to an additional $9 we never requested.
We enjoyed parts of the meal, but clear communication and accuracy are essential, especially when it comes to substitutions and charges.
For my birthday surprise, we dined at Black & Blue. Our server Orrin was very professional and patient with our party of 6. He was very knowledgeable and provided answers to our many questions. Orrin and his team would check in on us to see if we needed anything. The food was good! I tried a Red Snapper dish and was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the taste. The environment was cozy and provided a sense of privacy. We normally dine here on special occasions approximately 2 – 3 times per year. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to secure our normal server. However, Orrin and his team made our dining experience enjoyable!
I was a little surprised to see a charge for water, but nonetheless, we had a great time overall and would definitely recommend it.
We all started to congregate around the bar they have a good selection of drinks. I myself had the Moscow mule to start my night.
We were seated in a private room at a large table. Was pretty nice. Normally don’t give out the server’s name but a shout out to Chris. He did an excellent job with introducing himself and the restaurant, the whole team did a great job. Started with two types of bread. One was a garlic bread style. The other was like a pretzel bread roll you ordered a lot of appetizers, Wagu meatballs, fried calamari, beef tartare and lobster & crab fondue accompanied with some white wine.
I ordered the Australian wagyu New York strip steak for dinner accompanied with a Caesar salad. We ordered sides for everyone which consisted of hash browns, brussel sprouts and lobster mac and cheese.
We also ordered an assortment of desserts vanilla bean creme brulee, key lime pie and the molten chocolate bomb cake. I ordered a cappuccino for my after dinner drink.
All I can say is this place was outstanding. The food was superb. Steak was cooked perfectly. Desserts were really good. Can’t go wrong with the five-star rating.
We all had steaks: Waygu Ribeye, Ribeye and the Bone In Strip. We had 3 sides between us: mushrooms, fries and cauliflower gratin. The steaks were all beautifully cooked to our liking and sides were delicious. Desserts were sorbet, cheesecake and chocolate bomb (which is enormous and could easily serve 2!).
A great evening.
