In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Rolled in and Jacob greeted us like we were old friends — dude’s got mad people skills. Grabbed a spot at the breakfast bar, and boom — coffee hot and ready before we even blinked. Solid start to the morning.
The food? Unreal. Fresh, flavorful, cooked just right — you can taste the care in every bite. Vicki, the GM, even came over to vibe with us and break down everything they’ve offer catering wise. That kind of personal touch? Rare these days.
Also, shoutout to my wife — she snapped the photo of her breakfast because, let’s be real, I totally forgot. She’s better at remembering this stuff than I am.
If you’re into good food, chill vibes, and folks who actually care about your experience, this place is a must. We’ll definitely be back for round two.

Easily my favorite diner franchise. Home cooked quality food with large portions and fair pricing. They have well trained staff who enjoy what they do. I loved the place and the food was amazing. I went with my friends and we asked for the Volcano It comes with 2 sausages, 2 thick bacon, 1 egg and 2 buttermilk pancakes. Our favorite part was the bacon! Is so freaking thick I really recommend ✨

Went here for Christmas Eve breakfast, and I have to say, this was the best meal I had all holiday season. The service was beyond great, our server was funny as heck, and was willing to go the extra mile to make the breakfast enjoyable. Portions were amazing and left me stuffed after the meal, and I got to say the orange juice was the best I’ve ever had in my life. Can’t wait till the next time!!

I love this place, everything is good and tasty. My favorite plate is salmon but their cornbread is the best in town! The mashed potatoes with country gravy, yummy. My husband loved the waffle with fried chicken. The price is fair. The place is always clean and fast service. The employees are very polite and friendly. Big parking lots, clean restroom, a lot of tables, chairs and bench’s. They have great desserts and some different stuff at the cashier.

I’d never been to one b4, n I’ll definately go back. Our server had the best sense of humor! He blended right in with our fun comments n added to them. The food was the best southern home cooking I’ve had for awhile. Loved their meat loaf n “chunky” mash potatoes.
