So. I’ve been to Black Bear Diners before and usually it’s always been good (6 or 7/10).

And this time was one of those 5-6 kind of days.

I’ve been to the one in Shasta, Newberg and now here in Wilsonville.

I got to say that the quality is pretty much the same.

Shoutout to Cindy our server who was amazing 10/10 friendly, welcoming and efficient. Deserves all the tips.

Next, I will credit the place as far as their sweets. Anything that is in the sweet category will slap you awake and hit the sweet tooth craving. From their cinnamon French toast, sweet vanilla or mocha cold brew ice coffees to their famous waffle. All of it was bomb. 8-9/10.

Their savory foods always lack. For whatever reason, they don’t know how to cook potatoes. They’re always under cooked or very bland. The peppers blended together with them tasted old and bad quality. 2/10 for the potatoes.

The omelette (shown in the image, although forgot to take a pic before taking 1 bite…) was small. For the Black bear diner, this is not a good look. The omelette is about the size of my ✋ at best and not very filling unfortunately. I’ve had bigger omelette at Dennys. This was the Bruce’s meat lovers omelette….i guess Bruce was a baby bear or something. ‍ 5/10

Lastly, my girl got the French toast plate and she enjoyed it (again, sweets are bomb here) but her sausage links were a tad on the just barely cooked side.

So overall….mediocre experience for a place that is a bit in the pricey side for a diner like restaurant but needs a bit more refinement.

Black Bear Diners are always great. This location in Wilsonville had the quickest and best service of any I’ve been.
The food is consistent and very good. Of course the portions are huge and the value is excellent.

The Volcano with two eggs, two sausage, two bacon and three pancakes was just perfect for breakfast for dinner.

I had to try the giant bread putting with ice cream. It was great and big enough where I took most of it home.

Fun diner in Wilsonville with good food and a cute little gift shop with mostly stuffed bears. Great food for breakfast or lunch. Our waitress Aubrey was fantastic, super nice, helpful with the menu and very responsive service.

Returned 8 months later. This time had the taco salad ($15). Wow, you don’t walk away hungry (See photos/video). A huge fried flour tortilla filled with all the fresh taco options, lettus, avocado, tomatoes, olives, jalapeños, onions, cheese, beans and your choice of meat( beef or chicken). Jalapeños were mild for their hotness. Ask for additional salsa and ranch dressings. Black Bear’s salad is better than all the other restaurants including the many Mexican restaurants we’ve eaten at.
The establishment was clean despite being busy during lunch and we were served quickly. Our waitress was friendly. We’ll be back, a lot sooner next time.

Been to multiple black bear restaurants in different states. Consistency in all aspect is why this restaurant chain is successful.
Off time was our visit, so was seated immediately. Establishment very clean. Friendly waitress, coffee served quickly. Coffee very good with option of flavored creams.sugars options were pink, yellow(splenda), and blue along with reg surgar. Order taken quickly and before we realized, our meal was served. See photos.
I had the Bruce’s meat lovers omelet. Packed full of meat as promised, and eggs cooked to perfection. The hashbrowns were cooked well, but the wide potato strips created a crust like texture, unlike normal shoe string hashbrowns. Ordered the rye bread and that was a perfect blend, not overly rye taste. I was very full and the cost reasonable for todays economy (see menue prices).
My wife’s meal met her expectations as well.
Friendliness and multiple checks by our server to see if we needed anything, like refills of coffee with a smile. Keep up the good work. We’ll be back.

Describe a Black Bear Diner in one word: HUGE.

Anything is huge. The diner looks like a huge log cabin. The service was really great. The food awesome.

And the portions were HUGE. First time I wasn’t able to finish a breakfast meal. We had a breakfast platter with eggs, bacon and pancakes and a HUGE portion of hashbrowns. The coffee was also great.

I had to buy a coffee mug for my morning coffee at home.

Would definitely come again here

Black Bear Diner in Wilsonville delivers a consistently solid dining experience. The food is hearty, well-prepared, and true to the classic diner style. Staff are generally friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming environment for a casual meal. It’s a reliable spot for comfort food with generous portions and a warm, familiar atmosphere. Worth a visit if you’re in the area looking for a dependable and satisfying meal.

Waitress was to busy trying to buss the table as we were still eating her hands and wrists were touching the food we were eating because she had reach ove our food to buss the table. Waitress couple not give me correct answers on items. When I spoke to the assistant manager about items Waitress didn’t bring she had to stand 7 feet away to hear what was being said. Like she knew she wasn’t doing her job correctly. Had to repeatly ask her for the same items because she claims she forgot. When I was at the front register I wanted to purchase a couple of items and no one was there to help me. I waited about 8 minutes saw the assistant manager and waved him down and he waves at me and walks off to have another worker say I think she needs something he gets to the register and says what do you want? I say to purchase this and he whatever and rings my item up. I ask for the manager Autumn and he says why do you want her? I say to talk to her and he says nope she is to busy to help you she is doing a project. Over all I am disappointed with the whole experience.

Classic diner absolutely loved this place. My waitress was so engaging and funny. Very helpful. Not intrusive but very helpful. The food I’ve never had pancakes so light and fluffy and they tasted so fantastic and I am not really a pancake lover but for some reason I was craving them. Well worth the cost and it’s reasonable. But your plates are absolutely full. I made three meals out of my big platter. It’s a very comforting type of place. Highly recommend

There was not a table ready upon arrival, and the group that came after us was served before we were. The waitress set a bear pancake in front of my toddler that was not ours, and then took it away. He was really upset and did not understand why. There was a hair in my omelet, which I ended up pulling out of my throat and totally lost my appetite. Took awhile for the waitress to return so I could complain – they remade it, however my family was done eating at the time so I boxed it up. Hopefully my appetite returns so I can eat it later. Sprinkle pancakes aren’t like the photo – sprinkles mixed into the batter. They’re dumped on top while cooking. Presentation was not great. Overall, super sloppy – I’m not planning on returning.
