In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Still here. Me my and large family(17) are seated outside which we loved. The weather was nice and cool. Waiter continues to ask if we need refills etc. We had multiple servers which was awesome. Only had a little hiccup with an order, asked for well done and its quickly taken care of with a fresh newly cooked patty melt that was delicious.

So the many times I have eaten at Black Bear the service has been great. You are quickly greeted and seated. Everyone is always welcoming and friendly. The food portions are always plenty even to have some to take home to eat later. It’s usually pretty cool in there so I bring a sweater because sometimes it can get cold.
