In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. The employees here are amazing. We made the mistake of taking our party of 24 to Olive Garden and it was a nightmare from start to finish. We ended up calling Black Bear and asking them if they could seat our party and they immediately said yes so we left Olive Garden and upon arriving at Black Bear were seated right away. The servers were extremely attentive and took the kids orders first which was very nice of them. They worked together to make the experience seamless, from taking drink orders to bringing out all 24 meals together. This is the execution you expect at a fine dining restaurant and you can experience it at this Black Bear. The restaurant is cozy and looks well kept. We were checked on constantly and overall it made our mom’s birthday extra special. When our party split up right before the birthday song the staff even came back a second time to sing again. I hope this team gets the recognition they deserve because they provided exceptional service and we will recommend this location to everyone we know. Their dessert area was also well stocked and looked very appetizing!

Daniela is a very pleasant, wonderful, and efficient server. I’ve been coming hear for years and she is the best server I’ve ever encountered here which says a lot because everyone is overall nice. Food was very good and hot. Food came out fast as well.

My family and I go out to breakfast at Black Bear Diner in Tracy every weekend. Food is always on point and the service is always great! The servers are always very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!! 🙂

Was on our way to Sacramento from Oakland seen this off on the side. Stopped here for Lunch and was glad we did. Thought the food was GREAT as well the young lady waitress. Really enjoyed the visit congratulations on 50 years.

Breakfast what else to say except this place is always clean and the staff is super friendly. Recent visit they ran out of chicken sausage and I don’t like or eat pork and most other meat options are unfortunately of the swine variety. So I decided to try the chicken fried steak and the waiter was even kind enough to call out that the gravy was pork so they made me a turkey gravy. And that kind of thoughtfulness is why Black Bear still gives me the family owned and family diner vibe lease don’t change and you’ll continue to have loyal patrons that return.

Service was wonderful, staff gave recommendations and they were very inviting to not only my husband and I but our kids as well. The menu did not lack for options. The food was served in a decent amount of time and it was all very delicious. We will be back soon even though we dont live nearby.
