In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Let me be clear once again about Black Bear Diner. On Friday and Saturday the meals are outstanding. During the first half of the week the meals are drastically reduced in quality. There is obviously two chefs one being top of the line while the other doesn’t measure up. The service is always very good and the prices are fair. The entire place is wheelchair accessible and friendly including parking. While certain shifts carry a sense of pressure for the most part the atmosphere is friendly and time appropriate. This is a great place for family as well as business associates. I highly recommend you give them a try if it’s Friday or Saturday.
