Very delicious breakfast diner style food but! the pancakes I give them a 10, huge and full of flavor. Would have given them a 5 star but they were out of potatoes had to choose a different dish than what I was craving for. We love the bear style décor

Went here for my mom’s birthday. The inside looks nice, but was empty. There was two other couples there when I was.
Salad was standard lettuce and dressings.
Corn bread I have no words for. Not good not bad.
The dinners. I got tri tip combo rare. Came medium. Flavorless and the sauces that are supplied are nasty. Mashpotatoes were ok. The country gravy was good. Green beans really salty.
My girlfriend order salmon. Had one bit and nothing more. You can’t tell what it is and taste is horrible. Something like a mush goulash paste.

Taco Salad ! The service was great and the food was even better. I love the taco salad! My drink stayed full and my extra jalepenos hit the spot. It’s good to be able to have a place to go where you know its going to be great all the way around.

Food is really great! However I had 2 issues the last time.. I ordered a taco salad. When I received it there was no avocado (which I saw on the description when I ordered it) and… they didn’t include a fork so I couldn’t eat it! 🙁 bummed but still recommend it for those looking for great food.

We decided to check it out Saturday night around 7 pm. The place was packed, not an empty table, but they said the wait would only be 5 minutes. By the time my husband walked in from the parking lot we were being called to sit. The “menu”, was a tri-fold pamphlet with size 8 font, it appeared to be a “to-go” type menu. The guy that seated us asked if we had been to Black Bear before, we said no, that this was our first time. He then explained to us how to read the menu. Yes, you read that correct, he pointed out the breakfast area, then the lunch, and finally the dinners. Um, gee thanks? We placed our drink order and asked if we could put in our child’s meal order while my husband and I tried to read the menu (old eyes, small print). He came back with the drinks and a muffin for each of us. We ordered the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and seasoned veggies for me, the country fried steak for him but with fries and green beans. Chicken tortilla soup for the Mr., I ordered the salad with blue cheese dressing. Kiddo got the corn dog meal with apple slices. So all was good and I took the little one to the bathroom. I arrived back at the table with kiddos meal, soup, and salad waiting. The soup was straight up the Campbells soup I buy at the store. The salad was bagged salad, no cucumber slices, no croutons, just two under ripe (still green) unwashed cherry tomatoes. My child’s meal, turned out they cut the apple and served it with the core and the seeds still attached but the real kicker, they left the sticker on the apple and cut through it. I told the waiter that I didn’t feel that the apple had been washed and showed him the sticker. He apologized and said he would mention it to the kitchen. So my child didn’t get to eat his apple and no alternative was offered. As I dug into my “salad” I discovered the tomatoes were not washed properly either; as a dead tomato leaf was stuck to the tomato. So we pushed the starters to the side since they were unappealing. Shortly after that our food arrived. My husband’s came with both the seasoned veggies and the green beans. We asked the waiter about it, and he said how they just goofed but you won’t be charged extra. Um, gee thanks? Not usually in the habit of paying for veggies I didn’t order. The mashed potatoes and gravy were way salty. The steak was all gristle and the seasoned veggies were over cooked and running water on the plate that made the steak soggy. My husbands fries were cold, soggy, and full of grease. The saddest example of home-style fries I have ever seen. He also agreed that the food was overly salted and not very good at all. As we sat there picking at the food contemplating whether to try to eat more or complain we noticed that our waiter hadn’t been by in quite awhile. By now we had sat almost 20 minutes with no beverage refills. We sat and sat and sat and no one came. Finally, we spotted him and waved, he ignored the wave turned the other way and disappeared again. My husband joked there should be a law that if no one comes to wait on you after 30 minutes you should be able to leave for free. Then we snagged the waiter as he brought a salad to the table of girls across from us. My husband said check and refills, please. He asked if we wanted boxes, we said no. He came back to the table with the check, no drinks, asked us again what we were drinking, and then asked again if we were sure no boxes. I grabbed the check and head to the front cashier to pay. Mind you this experience has now cost me 45.00 before tip. The cashier asked me how was my meal, I said actually it wasn’t that great. She followed up with can I ask why? I explained to her about all the things I mentioned in this review. A younger girl standing behind her in a different colored shirt said thank you, I need to take this up with the kitchen and walked away. I was not offered a discount or a free kids meal since he didn’t get to eat it.

Arrived at 8am on Saturday, no wait. We ordered the vegetarian omelette and added bacon, red potatoes, 5oz chicken fried steak with hash browns and biscuits plus gravy. Everything was flavorful and DELICIOUS, giant portions, fresh food, even the coffee was really good. Our server Shawn was amazing and very friendly. Everything was beyond worth the price! Definitely recommend to anybody, and we will be back.

Delicious breakfast and attentive service. Our waiter was an openly gay man named Shawn and he was really cool to me and my family. He kept checking on us to ask if we needed anything and he talked to us about it being his first day back at work. We talked and ate and had a great visit. I highly recommend the eggs Benedict. My son’s chicken fried steak was really good. My family and I enjoyed our maskless and inside dining meal and will be happy to return and we hope Shawn is still on duty.

This is the 3rd Black Bear Dinner I in California and they all have the same great customer service and amazing food. I always enjoy their waffles,as they keep their warmth and soft texture. On this visit I finally tried their stuffed french toast; it’s a filled bear claw in French toast and it was amazingly delicious

We stopped in for lunch here and glad we did. The service was good, food was great and we left with enough to almost cover dinner. The portions are rather large but no flavor was sacrificed for the size. If you want a large meal, or a normal meal and leftovers then this is the place to go!

I ended up going to have Sunday dinner, upon my arrival the waiter told me the special. She told me it was a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. I’m ended ordering the special which was nothing special. Almost seem like a kids meals… The special was $11.99 which is highway robbery for a couple of pieces of bread and cheese and a small little bowl tomato soup…. Very dissatisfied and very misleading.. I would highly recommend anybody to steer clear of this restaurant!
