In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. I got the build your own breakfast plate. Over easy eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy with a side of red potatoes. The eggs came over done not once but twice! The potatoes where hard and I couldnt bit through them at all what left are in picture..the biscuits and gravy omg one is rock hard other semi medium stiff the gravy is cold asked for fresh hot gravy it was light warm it doesn’t help when your food is sitting on the serve line for a while it takes them a long time to send out food..
The employee’s just walk around aimlessly and I guess have hard of hearing!

Simon another server isn’t so bad just hard of hearing and talks a while to remember what you ask for.

Great service and friendly staff. Plenty of parking. I had side salad and black bear burger. The picture shows 1/2 of the burger which was big. It was greasy and hard to hold a ball of meat inside a burger bun. Tasted great though.

Food was good , waitress was nice. The ham ppl the ham omgosh thick and great taste. The hash browns was wider then all the other places ya go. Taste like the sausage was homemade, they have hot and mild. It’s inside the TA .

We had a great stop here – food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Server was friendly and super helpful. Good vegetarian options on the menu, and attached to a service station shop. Would definitely stop again!

Wow. I’ve heard this has been open for 18 months, but it’s co-located in a truck stop shopping center, so I figured it was truck stop food. I was WRONG! Black Bear Diner is awesome. I sat at the bar, Susie was my server and was the best. Before my drink was empty, I had a fresh one. She had great suggestions and was just unbelievably friendly, sweet and kind.
I got the chicken fried steak with mashed red skin potatoes and green beans (they had bacon in them which made them really tasty). Huge portions, fair price and it was fresh, not greasy, the gravy was excellent and the side salads and corn bread muffin were really great. Everyone there got the sane friendly service, and most of all, being open for 18 months, a place usually starts to show problems with cleanliness.
This place was immaculate. Clean as can be, everything stocked and in order. Nice decor. I’m speechless at how clean this restaurant is.
You can’t go wrong here, easy access off I-35, plenty of parking and family friendly. The bar is spacious, not crowded together, the booths and tables are also well organized.
This is a great value with great food, amazing service and the dessert selection looks tasty. I’m usually pretty tough on all these things, but this is a well run restaurant, obviously managed well, and a happy staff. You have to try it out. I’ll be back for sure.

They have great customer service and the food is amazing! The location is not great but that because it in the TA here in New braunfels txand I happend to hate driving around a bunch of 18 wheelers. The food is so good big portions. The only complaint i have it they dont have breakfast tacos but it is a country dinner so its understandable.

The server, Cynthia, was completely unprofessional. She openly flirted with my husband the entire time while barely acknowledging me. She served me a well-done steak and I ordered medium, repeatedly mixed up our food, and almost never checked on our table—unless it was to hover over my husband. To top it off, we were seated first but somehow served last. The service was disrespectful, careless, and unacceptable. This was my first experience at this restaurant.
