In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Based on favorable recommendations from family, we decided to try this place out for ourselves. We were not disappointed. I ordered the Bigfoot country fried steak & eggs and got what you see in the photo. The menu said that this was for “the hungriest bears” and they weren’t lying. Everything was delicious and the portions were fantastic for the money. The biscuits were flaky, buttery, and larger than my fist! Service was also exceptional. We were seated immediately and our food was delivered quickly.

Hi all! We didn’t get quite as much attention as we’d like, we wanted lemon for fish and my husband never saw wait person again to get refill, nor a to go cup. However, atmosphere was nice and wait person was nice when we saw her. She did make menu recommendations, which we appreciated. I thought food was good and tea. Other people in party had Pepsi and a raspberry Mimosa. Did I mention me u was a newspaper and they have a jukebox?

The kids cute bear pancake was packed with flavor. The tea tasted fresh. Our meals were over the top delicious. HUGE menu of items, love that!!! Sweet waitress, fast served. The place was cute and filled with bears all over. We won’t be going back to IHOP. This is our new spot now. Portions were huge. Eggs cooked just right. Cute plates. What a darling restaurant.

HUGE portions! We should have shared 1 entree! The biscuits were larger than a coffee mug! Everything tasted great. I just wish I’d gotten pie to go bc we sure didn’t have room in our tummies. We took our leftovers and had them for dinner. Our server was great, too.

I got the Cobb salad with grilled chicken to-go. It is currently amazing. They have amazing ranch great quality on the veggies. The workers are so kind, I was greeted immediately and helped. They are so accommodating and kind. My order was 100% correct and it came out fast. No complaints here! I’ll be back!

They have the best chicken fried steak hands down! Portions are spot on and affordable. I love the decor and atmosphere. The wait staff was kind and prompt. There was no over crowded line or hour long wait. No blaring music or obnoxiousness. It is just a nice easy going evening. I enjoy ever time I have visited here. Great family place to have a meal. Cannot totally slam this place just was VERY disappointed in my last visit. As always the food was great. But lets back up… Last two visits the place was packed but the service was fast friendly and efficient. . It made for a wonderful experience. Now to present. Not very busy but service was SLOW!!!!! No checking on our table or refills until we asked. Wait staff seemed to hover around the counter. Once our plates arrived the server flung them on the table and departed before we could ask for anything to include our missing food items or sauce/ butter. Anyway the service was not good. Like I said food was good, and I cant say I wont be back because the foods good and you cant base it on one visit. I just hope next time we have better service. Menu has more than enough choices, The burgers and pancakes are phenomenal. They honor military/ LEO discounts. All in all good place just need better service than my last vist.
