In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Enjoy your meal in our family-friendly, cabin-themed diner with our welcoming staff or order to enjoy in the comfort of your home.
Easygoing chain serving familiar all-day comfort food & desserts in a woodsy setting.
Was in town for a night and my hotel didn’t have breakfast so I quickly googled breakfast spots and this one popped up. I literally came to this location 10 years ago and instantly remembered how good the food and experience was. The food and experience is just as good as my experience 10 years ago! The food came out quick and was delicious! Our server was very attentive to not only us but everyone around. This place rocks! Highly recommend to get breakfast here, they have so many options! I will be back again!

We enjoyed our dinner. The food was good and the service was great! We arrived around 5:15 and got a seat right away, but by 6 pm the place was full. It was our second time and we enjoyed both and will go back!

LARGE PORTION SIZES! The food was absolutely delicious and I was definitely not expecting the portions to be that large. I normally finish all my meals but I couldn’t for this one. I had the blackened salmon. It came with two hefty sides and it was under $15. I highly recommend it, the cooks did great. Went on a Monday morning and it was pretty busy so the wait for everything was pretty long. It gets pretty loud in there also.

The burger was good pot roast lots of fat. Service needs some help. I was asked 2 times what I wanted to drink the other people I was with got their drinks a shake and water. I had to ask the 3rd time. 30 min to get a Pepsi with only 4 tables.

I asked for the New York steak, and it was the best steak that I have ever had. And our waiter Jessy was excellent, very nice and friendly. I recommend this place 100%.

I’m sure the atmosphere isn’t nearly as loud as it was this past holiday weekend. Other than the obviously drunk obnoxious fools demanding attention, it was a very pleasant experience. It was the 3rd place I tried for breakfast & luckily, there was an opening at the bar. Staff was very attentive despite the heavy crowd & food was awesome. I must give some props to the wait staff. They managed to get the drunkards to stop cussing at the top of their lungs without incident. KUDOS, BLACK BEAR!!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! If you don’t want to be mistreated, STEER CLEAR OF THIS RESTAURANT! Me and my family came to the restaurant in peace just to eat, but our server thought otherwise. We had our drinks thrown aggressively at us, and the server had such a mean spirited attitude. She was acting extremely racist to us and not treating us with ANY respect. We didn’t even get to eat the food since after realizing how toxic the environment was, I took my family and LEFT. I doubt the food was good anyways. Our server made me, my husband, and children uncomfortable! She didn’t make us feel welcome at all. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!! Me and my family won’t EVER step foot in this dumpster fire you call a restaurant AGAIN. Next time, have your bad mannered staff search up on Google, “HOW TO BE POLITE TO OTHERS.” Absolutely disgusting.
