Where do I start? This visit was less than stellar . Please see receipts and photos from last year and today’s visit. It started off bad when we were seated in a small booth near the juke box on the main aisle on the corner. Everyone can see i am disabled and walk with a cane due a stroke several years ago. I barely fit in that booth and my legs didn’t have enough room. So i sat with both legs on the same side, scrunched up and not comfortable. I saw the restaurant was only half full and there were bigger booths available so why did he seat us in that tiny booth? It was right near the front doors and there was a lot of traffic sitting there from the kitchen and servers. The cornbread was hard as a rock and served on a paper plate ️. No butter came it as it should, i had to ask a female waitress to bring me some and she did accordingly. The salad had many big pieces of lettuce in it and not chopped. I am not a rabbit and as a disabled man with only one arm functioning I wasn’t able to cut it into small enough pieces to eat so I left half of it on the plate. There were also several brown pieces mixed in there see photo. The prices have gone up since last year see receipts to compare. The meatloaf dinner went up about $8 and the mashed potatoes have went down in size. Does that make sense? Or am I missing something here? Our server Faouez told us he was a supervisor not wearing a name tag and a Black Bear Diner uniform. He wore a casual jacket as a uniform. Plus he was talking on his personal cellphone, on a personal call standing right near our table by the juke box. He should go in the back to make personal calls not on the floor near customers. This whole experience was unacceptable. Then when we went to pay i mentioned to the gals at cash register about the cornbread and lettuce issues they acted like it was nothing major but they said they would let the kitchen know.. My question is, did they? I would like a response from someone in management about all this falderal please. Thank you for your consideration.

We went here on a Saturday night at 7 with a party of 15. We got seated immediately in an empty area of the restaurant. They were quick to bring us water. But then we waited 20 minutes to have our orders taken. We then waited over 30 minutes for our food. It seemed like we sat for a really long time. I think we could only see one server in the whole restaurant. She was running around like crazy. She did a good job considering all she had to do. The food was pretty good but the wait was pretty rough.

My family and I would certainly return. Our waiter was kind, knowledgeable and did not rush us even though we were still eating at closing time. Atmosphere was inviting! Id recommend trying it out, if you have not =)

Ah, the delectable delights of the culinary realm! My darling companion and I, amidst a whirlwind of gastronomic aspirations, boldly opted for the illustrious Volcano dish. With a twinkle of hope and a dash of whimsy, I fervently yearned to crown my dish with the crispy, golden embrace of waffles. Alas! My dreams were swiftly extinguished as the staff regrettably informed me that such a whimsical request was beyond the realm of their capabilities, and instead, I was relegated to the fate of pancakes. There exists no proclamation of ‘cannot’; rather, it is a declaration of ‘I shan’t’. Dare not utter the words ‘cannot’ in my presence! For I, a seasoned veteran of the fast-food battlegrounds, know the labyrinthine ways of indulgent substitutions! Now, setting aside this pancake debacle, we found ourselves ensnared in the tendrils of time, for our sumptuous feast took a leisurely hour to manifest on our table—a minor inconvenience, if I may say so, though a heads-up about our impending hour-long gastronomic wait prior to being seated would have been a delightful morsel of proper restaurant etiquette! The victuals, I must profess, were indeed splendid! The energetic waitstaff, with their gallant spirit, offered fish to the other hungry souls waiting in ennui—a thoughtful gesture, though I harbor an enormous aversion to things aquatic, much to the dismay of my fish-allergic beau, thus we politely declined this piscine proposition. Nevertheless, the act itself was one of commendable nicety. Oh, the bacon! A glorious achievement in crispness, tantalizing the taste buds to their utmost delight! The sausage? Oh, it was a marvel of perfect consistency and texture, a true culinary masterpiece! The pancakes, while they exhibited a commendable flavor profile, fell slightly short in the texture department, presenting a soggy demeanor that left much to be desired. However, we found solace in the huckleberry lemonade, the taste of which danced upon our palates like a sun-drenched summer morning, bursting with sweetness and a hint of savories! All things considered, we reveled in a delightful repast adorned with service that, while not impeccable, was of respectable quality and nestled within an amiable family atmosphere. I daresay I would happily return for another culinary adventure!

My 1st ever Black Bear Dinner ! Ok the food was 4.8 but I gave it a 5 because it wasn’t bad either and the amount of food was crazy! Big portions , I typically eat all my food as I grew up in the 80s where you could not leave the table until you had eaten everything. Possibly a bad habit. Thanks Mom. lol. I ordered the GRIZZ! Great choice with 2 amazing pancakes and 2 bacon and 2 2 sausage, 1 old school ham.( like they serve in KY). It was cooked fresh and took a bit longer so I knew it was fresh. The restaurant was clean – bathrooms were clean. Staff was excellent!! Thank you. . I had no idea that they offered dinner food too!

If I could give this place more than five stars, I would. We went for our anniversary. I got the Volcano, which tasted amazing. The orange juice is also the best I’ve ever had.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I love the atmosphere here and will definitely be coming back.

Amazing place for brunch. I’m not sure what the middle aged bald guys name is but he did a fantastic job serving us and was extremely helpful and kind. The Volcano was amazing and I enjoyed the pancakes and bacon. Definitely worth the drive from Pocatello.
