In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. We traveled from Southern California to Fernley to visit family. One morning, we decided to visit the Black Bear Diner for breakfast. I ordered a sweet cream waffle, with two scrambled eggs, two sausage links, and a Huckleberry lemonade. It was so good, we went back for dinner! Guess what? I ordered the exact same dish! The sausage links are very flavorful and a little larger than regular sausage links, the sweet cream waffle was the best waffle I have ever eaten, and the Huckleberry lemonade was tart but sweet. Needless to say, the service we received from Devin, Janie, and Crystella was superior! They were friendly, fast, and went beyond their typical duties to ensure we’d enjoy our meals. I highly recommend the Black Bear Diner and absolutely love the environment. Their souvenirs are so cute!!!

We had just been in the Carson City Black Bear. My brother and I had both ordered the dinner Chicken Fried Steak. It was wonderful My bother ordered it again at the Fernley restaurant. And it was discussing. The size of a burger, dried out and not very good tasting. Compared to the Carson City steak which was 3/4 of the plate in size, tender and great flavor. Brandi a new server was great. Funny, personable and helpful. Come on Fernley you’ve got to do better.

Been to a few of the black bear diners. They are usually pretty good. This location is the best one yet. The breakfast was perfect. The diner is extremely clean and the service was awesome. This location has a nice casino connected to it which is also extremely clean. Thank you Black Bear!

Great atmosphere, the waitress Brandy is a blessing to this restaurant, and the exact personality vibe this place requires to operate properly. (Make sure she is paid well.) The food and theme of this particular restaurant are great. I’ve had cornbread at other Black Bear Diners, but this place does it way better than one in San Diego.

Jennifer Gorby made our experience at Black Bear this morning the best morning we have ever had there. We were greeted with a beautiful smile first off. It was as usual busy Saturday morning and we were a party of 5. She had 5 table’s total I believe of what I noticed and she managed very well. We had our food in a timely manner, had everything we needed and she made dining there a wonderful experience. The food was delicious as well. It was the best experience we have had there because of her.

Had the all you can eat fish fry. Took a while to get main meal which is fine. Hush puppy hard as rock and tasted like saw dust. Asked for two more pieces of fish and after it didn’t arrive in twenty minutes we left. Service was good but she never came back to say it wasn’t coming or anything. Kitchen obviously needs help. I definitely would not recommend this Black Bear Diner.
