In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Enjoy your meal in our family-friendly, cabin-themed diner with our welcoming staff or order to enjoy in the comfort of your home.

The staff and food make this such a wonderful place to eat at. Every time I come here, we are seated right away, and the drinks and food come out quickly. I have never had a bad meal or service, it’s always five stars!

Black Bear Diner is my go-to spot for the best Eggs Benedict, with perfect hollandaise, soft muffins, and poached eggs done just right. I’ve tried it in plenty of places, but theirs is still my favorite. My husband ordered a cheeseburger salad off-menu and loved it too, so we both left happy.

Big Bear Diner is hands down ONE of my family’s favorite places to eat. Especially when you order the items the way you like them, they get it right. Ex. the breakfast potatoes, it’s a must to order them fully cooked with the additional veggies (bell peppers, onions). The grits might be hit or miss, but that pales to how great the main dishes are. Prices are just about the same as any other place, and they always have a deal going on. Love this place. I give them 2 and a cartwheel Oh and the sweet cream pancakes DELICIOSO, the syrup I can drink by itself. But my kids grown upon that

I had to place a big order for an office party last minute and decided to go with black bear diner however it was beyond the notice that they normally need. I called and spoke with Jeff the general manager who was able To successfully place my order for next day without hesitation! When I received The order Jeff and his team went above and beyond to get every plate correct the way we needed, packaged safely, as well as threw in a few extras to help my party be one of the fullest we’ve had. Server was excellent and answer all questions and gave recommendations.. atmosphere is very cute. Would definitely expect these restaurants to be near the smokey mountains but have never heard of the chain before coming to Arizona. Food was good, especially the pancakes with a sweeter flavor to them. I don’t need syrup particularly and definitely didn’t with these . They were big and fluffy.. husband really enjoyed the ham and French toast made out of cinnamon rolls.

Black Bear Diner, I’ve been a loyal customer since I first visited your Salinas, California location 20 years ago. You were always on the pricier side, but the generous portions and quality ingredients made it worth it. Unfortunately, the last few visits have been disappointing. The excitement of seeing your signature hearty plates arrive at the table is gone, replaced with higher prices and smaller portions. Your biscuits taste like plain flour, which seems like you cheapened the recipe and that special charm you once had with those big portions seems to have disappeared.
On the plus side, your restaurants are always clean, and the service is consistently great. But what used to set you apart now feels like just another option among the competition.

Black Bear is a tiny step above Denny’s. Mediocre ‘Sysco’ food at gourmet prices. Par for the course these days. The pies and desserts could be good but they all have a ‘refrigerator’ taste from sitting in that case for however long. The service is hit and miss sometimes it is phenomenal and others not so much. Overall all it is very middle of the road not the best and definitely not the worst. We eat here a few times a year, mostly when family is in town and we will continue to go because it is close and convenient.

This is one of my go-to breakfast spots in Chandler. The food is tasty, the place is spotless, and the decor is inviting. It’s always a pleasant place to start the day.

I have been to a few Black Bear Dinners and usually enjoy the food. I was very disappointed that my egg that was supposed to be over easy was runny. I was so turned off by it, I couldn’t finish my food. My server didn’t come by often to check on us. My sister mentioned to the person handling the register that I wasn’t able to finish my meal for this reason. That individual told my sister that she has three other complaints about their eggs not being cooed properly

Vantastic family friendly diner, with awesome food and service. Store and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Parking is plentiful and large enough for any size rig or RV. I had full bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming.
