I placed my order online, picked it up, and drove all the way home. The receipt showed my correct order, but when I opened the box, it wasn’t what I ordered. Since it was already around 9:45 PM and close to closing time, I rushed back so I could still get dinner.
While driving back, I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager, who identified herself as “Kay.” The conversation immediately became frustrating. She repeatedly asked me what was in the box, even after I told her multiple times that I was driving and couldn’t check. I only knew it wasn’t my chicken Philly fries.
Instead of apologizing and fixing the mistake, she kept asking if I could come back another day — first Sunday (when they are apparently closed), then Tuesday. I explained that this was my dinner and I wanted my order corrected that night. She then suggested just giving me a chicken Philly instead of the chicken Philly fries I paid for, and when I declined, she became argumentative and raised her voice.
At no point did she simply apologize or offer a refund. Instead, she said she couldn’t refund me and would have to call her boss. I never asked for cash — I paid by card and simply wanted the refund put back on my card.
When I arrived, she spoke to the staff as if I might be lying about the order being wrong. Eventually, she said her boss approved the refund, but continued speaking to me in a rude and dismissive tone, telling me it would take 24–48 hours to process.
The entire interaction was unprofessional and unnecessarily confrontational over a simple order mistake. When I asked who the manager was, she said Kay. When I asked for the owner’s name, she first said she was the boss, then later said the boss was Asa.
A simple mistake turned into an exhausting and terrible experience. As someone who used to frequent this restaurant, I’m extremely disappointed. Customer service matters, especially when you’re correcting an error your business made.
Atmosphere: This store is cash free, you have to scan a QR code from the front window and order/ pay from your phone. Interior is stark and dirty.
Greeter / food runner was pleasant enough.
Food: jambalaya was salty and only 2 shrimp, a little bit of chicken, and lots of rice, on the lower end of too salty. Gumbo was 90% broth and on the high end of too salty, almost inedible.
Experience: ordered food from outside store with QR code. Was given 15 min wait time to pick up 2 12oz sides. Walked in at 15 min and had to wait another 10-12 minutes for food to come out of kitchen, Huh?
I ordered the 5 piece wing dinner w/ 2 sides. The sides were the honey butter biscuit and gumbo. Food arrived hot. FYI, wings are on the smaller side, but I prefer that.
Requested wings fried hard with honey lemon pepper sauce on the side.
Wings were cooked to my liking, but no sauce was provided. There was some sort of no salt paprika based seasoning blend shaken on top of the wings AFTER they were cooked, but there was no seasoning WHATSOEVER put on the chicken prior to frying. So they must rely on sauces for flavor.
The gumbo was flavorful and packed with chicken, but the bowl had no sausage and shrimp.
The biscuit lived up to its name, with a dense, fluffy texture and sweet honey butter sauce.
So for my first try, 3/5. Willing to try again with sauces.
