Also, it can be a bit expensive (as I like ordering extra things), but what food place isn’t these days. I think it’s worth the price. So, I really can’t recommend this place enough. I always stop in on my way to physical therapy just down the street, or when I’m in the Redlands area… and when I’m not, I just order delivery from Grubhub .
Wraps are soo good, ingredients are fresh, staff is nice – just got to talk to them… LOL The soups are freshly made. Been here multiple times and will keep coming back.
The store is brightly lighted and very clean. The four stars for Atmosphere are due to the rather bland approach to decor.
I was greeted immediately upon entering and I was pleased to see that the attendant washed his hands right away. As a first-time customer, he provided a brief explanation of the ordering system. He was friendly and courteous the entire time, although no one asked me how I was doing during my meal, which I ate inside.
I chose the Fabulous Falafel Salad ($13.75) and a 12-oz bowl of Broccoli Cheddar Soup ($5.49).
The lettuce was clean, cold, and crisp. The mixture included pickled red onions, where I would have preferred pickled turnips for greater authenticity. The scoop of hummus was generous but, unfortunately, it was cold. Hummus should be served at room temperature. The falafel balls were also cold and this is just wrong. Falafel should be eaten warm. The salad was covered in something they call “pita croutons” which looked and tasted like they had been fried. I would much prefer triangles of fresh pita bread. The lemon tahini dressing was watery and did not have much tahini seasoning.
The soup was hot and tasted good. The bits of carrot was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the soup was too thin, the broccoli was too finely chopped, and the cheese was not thick enough. The soup is a good effort but the recipe needs to be tweaked.
Finally, for a place offering healthy eating options, the cold beverage selection is dominated by Coke products and (mostly) sugar-sweetened teas, with only three brands of water.
So, this place is a nice alternative among a field over-crowded with burgers and fried food, but they need to work on their ingredients and preparation, at least for the two items I sampled.
I will definitely be back and choose a few other items next time.
For now, Bite Better is merely Recommended.
