Reviews
When eventually moved to the pre booked pod(9pm), we were told someone would be back with menus shortly
Another half an hour went by and 2 pints and a pint of coke for my pregnant girlfriend and still no menu.
We asked to speak to the manager at 9.30, this being an hour snd a half without seeing the menu or ordering and a second parking ticket paid for the car. At this point I said that we would not be paying for any of the drinks or food we were currently eventually about to consume the manager dealt with the issue in a professional manner and agreed but went above and beyond for anything we needed and even offered to get in the kitchen himself. Special mention to the lady behind the bar, who’s name I did not catch who made my girlfriend a non alcoholic beverage and brought it to her own accord. I was not ever thinking of coming back, but the manager( Yestyn) and bar lady simply saved the day. Food was average in the end but the atmosphere was actually tidy. I may try again a few months down the line. I did not check reviews before hand as I like to base my review on my own experience.
The food in the photos would of easily been £100 spent with 3 pints of lager 2 pints of coke a hot chocolate a bottle of bubbly plus whats in the photos but some of the items purely down to the lack of service
We went off the main menu, I had the French onion soup to start and my partner had the blue cheese, walnut and pear salad both were very nice starters.
For mains I really wish I had gone for something else.
I ordered the 8oz sirloin cooked rare it came with French fries and some salad leaves, no tomato, mushrooms nothing so it was very boring, my steak was overcooked but to be fair I think because of the quality of the steak it was still so tender you could have cut it with a spoon.
My partner had the duck al a orange which was lovely, the duck fell off the bone.
The reason for 3 stars is it’s very expensive even with money off but it still feels like a chain restaurant, I can’t put my finger on it.
I would recommend it for lunch in the week though.
Despite stating to be a dog friendly place we saw no evidence of this at all. I understand the young girl being told to tell us that she couldn’t sit on my lap or on my coat but didn’t see any signs that they welcome well behaved dogs in any shape or form. There was no welcome for humans let alone dogs. We made other arrangements for my dog and
We then went upstairs to have our meal and what a different environment. The gentleman overseeing the restaurant (wonderful) and all the staff up there were friendly welcoming and attentive.
The food was stunning. We all had 3 different meals and deserts and the food was cooked to a beautifully high standard.
Such a shame to be made to feel like we weren’t welcome in the downstairs bar – it really dampened what could have and should have been a lovely celebration evening for us.
We visited Bistrot Pierre on Christmas Day (25/12/2025) after booking in advance for 2 adults and 3 children. We had pre-selected our full menu ahead of time, so we expected an efficient and well-organised service, especially given the occasion and the premium price.
Unfortunately, the entire experience was extremely disappointing.
Service was unacceptably slow. We waited around 40 minutes just for the starters, and similar delays followed for every course. Even basic requests such as drinks and clean glasses took an excessive amount of time. With three children, this made the experience very stressful, as they became restless and frustrated while waiting.
When we were seated, the table and glassware were dirty and unhygienic. This is completely unacceptable, particularly on Christmas Day. We had to clean the table ourselves before we could sit comfortably.
The food quality was very poor. The children’s menu clearly lacked care and attention. The steaks were extremely tough, difficult to chew, and tasted like wood, while the fries were bland and disappointing. This was far from what you would expect from a restaurant charging premium Christmas Day prices.
This was meant to be a special family occasion and our first visit to Bistrot Pierre, but it turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience. The cost was £90 per adult and £40 per child, which is a significant amount of money. On top of this, a 10% discretionary service charge was added — something that was absolutely not deserved given the level of service we received.
Overall, this visit was a complete waste of time and money. The only positive aspect was the lovely view, but that alone does not justify the poor service, low food quality, and high prices.
We will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant, especially to families or for special occasions.
Most, if not all the staff are lovely. I will admit I’ve had a bad experience with one of the managers. (Please read below)
I know breakfast stops being served at 10:45 to 11:00. One day I was running late for my breakfast booking and called up asking what time breakfast stops being served and they said 11:00, I ended up not going that day as I would’ve arrived past 11:00 and emailed later on querying and a manager replied saying they can push it to 11:00.
However, one day after this I was running late again but made sure to get there before 11:00 and I asked my friend who was visiting South Wales for the first time to go in and ask for a table and order for us while I searched for parking, she arrived there at 10:55 asked to order breakfast and one of the managers who I now consider very blunt and unwelcoming told her that breakfast has stopped being served, she called me to say and I was not having it and went in with frustration nicely but frustratedly mentioned to this manager how I’ve been told previously breakfast is stopped at 11:00 mentioning I’ve rang asking and also had an email reply confirming. He was very rude and blunt towards me and sent us away to Croeso for breakfast. As I was mentioning this to him I saw one of the staff taking breakfasts to a table.
That one experience really upset me. However I will continue to visit as if not one but all of the staff are lovely. Also spoke to Jolene and Iestyn today and they were very kind and welcoming. I’ve also heard that the other manager Mark is very lovely.
