What an experience! The food was delicious, service was efficient, and pleasant. It was an upscale restaurant and the prices well appropriately selected for the meal. The blue corn beef tacos were a little spicy and sweet. The pork tacos were savory, and both the pork and beef were cooked to perfection! Both salsas were delicious, I even started to mix them together to make a 3rd salsa that was also delicious! Over this was a great way to celebrate a birthday in Blackhawk and a must dine at restaurant. Make sure to make your reservations, it is quick and easy to do.

This is hands down the best Mexican food I have ever had! Currently, on Wednesday’s they do half off some appetizers and drinks!!! Everything is delish including the amazing Sangria they just added to their cocktails~ hope you take the beautiful drive up (or down) the canyon – whether you gamble or not… wether you do a day trip or stay the night- in my opinion… it is soo worth the trip! Also both the ambiance and the customer service is amazing!!!

TJ and all the staff are very pleasant to be around. Every time we stay at the Monarch we always come here to eat. Every year or so they change the menu. I love the coconut ceviche! The atmosphere is fun and intimate. Love the music!! Prices are high but its worth every penny.

Frequent visitor to Monarch and Mariposa. However, last nite’s visit (Sat) left me with one thought “victim of their own success”. Reservations are a must at end of week. I sadly didn’t have one. Wait was over an hour, even for bar seating, despite fully 25% of tables empty or “reserved” and plenty of staff running around chaotically. Seated at bar; largely ignored by bartenders busy feeding cocktails to three large tables. No chips and salsa offered; not even to the two other couples seated at bar. They certainly took care of the larger parties. Enjoyed the tacos, but drink refills and check-ins didn’t happen. I know they get busy, but this lack of service was deplorable. I guess if you have a large, expensive party, they will do everything for you; party of two? Appears the casino floor isn’t the only place where you need luck.

The food at Bistro Mariposa was really good, everything was perfectly cooked and delicious.
Unfortunately, the overall experience at the hotel was pretty mid, mainly because of the manager, Jose. We were seated next to a very large party (around 15 people), and when we politely asked to move tables, he told us we could move the stuff ourselves and said Saturdays are crazy. I understand it can be busy, but there were plenty of open tables, and we still ended up having to move everything on our own. Having a larger party nearby shouldn’t mean we’re treated poorly.
Huge shoutout to our server TJ, he was AMAZING. He helped us move everything, checked in multiple times to make sure we were comfortable, and truly turned our experience around after the awkward interaction with the manager. TJ made the night 10 times better. Thank you, TJ!

Fresh squeezed lime margaritas and the best shrimp I’ve ever had. Go on Wednesday for 50% off happy hour all day.

There is a very nice Latin-Mexican cuisine vibe happening here. We went there as they were closing that’s why the place looked pretty empty. Otherwise the food was good but not anything that blew my mind. The cocktails were solid and the atmosphere was definitely modern with a clean look. It’s nice to know that when staying at the hotel or when gambling there is a place like this where you can go and unwind for the evening.
* Extra bonus. I have to say that they have a killer all day happy hour on Wednesdays which is when we were there. All appetizers and drinks are half off. Yeah, you can’t beat that peeps. If I’m back at Monarch I will probably be back there.

Top Notch. Everything we had here was delicious. Fried fish comes with a side of black beans and rice, the black beans had a very good flavor, I was very impressed by how good the sides and salsas tasted. They use top shelve liquor in their drinks, so margaritass are nice and strong. This place is also very fancy looking and is great for a date night. The chef even comes out and talks to the guest and check on things. I can honestly say the food, service, and atmosphere is worth the price. We can’t wait to come back.

Amazing Dinner while at Monarch Casino in Black Hawk. Must do the Fried Bread and Whole fish both exceeded expectations. Pork tacos and Chile Rellano also very good. Fried Ice Cream with Tequila soaked apple was to die for.
Had 4 margaritas: spicy, pomegranate, pineapple and house. All very good but the pineapple apple as too sweet, more juice than we would prefer.
Overall amazing experience at the Bar since we had no reservation on Saturday night. Highly Recommend

What a great find in Blackhawk! This is a hidden gem located at Monarch casino. We have eaten at so many places up there however this is the first time we all enjoyed every single thing we ordered. The quality of the drinks and food was fabulous and the service was spot on. Chris was our server and he was great at having fun with us as well as answering our questions. Highly recommend the lobster tacos and the short ribs. Our only complaint is that for the prices they should serve one side dish with the entree and they need to be more aware of allergies as we had a celiac person who had a reaction because we didn’t know the chips were fried in the same fryer as other wheat items u til he ate a chip and had a reaction. They take reservations although I don’t know that they are marketing this gem as well as they should. Maybe they should think about offering a coupon for an app to get people in the door!
