This Italian restaurant is super delicious! The portions are large, the prices are reasonable, and everything tastes amazing. It’s only open in the evening, but totally worth waiting for. Don’t skip the desserts — they’re really good too!

What a brilliant find. From the outside it doesn’t look much but looks can be deceptive. The inside is cosy, intimate and delightful. Linen tablecloths and napkins and small rooms. The service is fabulous. Attentive but not overbearing. You feel as if you could ask for anything.
The menu is quite extensive with specials also. The food itself was delicious with very generous portions and a quite varied wine list.
This truly is a hidden gem and if you are in Durham and looking for a real Italian feel, with a small, intimate atmosphere with great service, then look no further.

We went as a family of five to bistro italliano on Christmas, we were all cramped into a corner. When we first went in there we could barley move, even worse when more people came in. It was horrendous trying to go to the toilet as it was so crowded. Food wise I had the lamb broth it was delicious, everyone else really enjoyed what they had as a starter. The mains weren’t very nice, I had a turkey dinner the turkey, yorkshire pudding and mash was really nice however the rest was hard. The rest of my party had the surf and turf. One out of the four enjoyed it however no-one else did as the steak was quite fatty, we all enjoyed our desserts. All together (it was ordered weeks in advance) it took 2 and a half hours for three courses.

Really nice little Italian. Small but has an authentic Italian feel to it. Good menu not over priced
They do a lot of seafood and fish specials so if you like fish would be a treat. We don’t so didn’t try any. Staff are attentive and helpful and what we ordered was excellent. Seems very popular
so would suggest booking.

The calamari fritters were not very good, I’ll leave it at that. Customers on the table next to us said they had better fish from Tesco.
We cancelled our mains, paid our drinks and left.
Disappointing for our wedding anniversary dinner!

we came here for our first and third anniversary, absolutely gorgeous food each time and never disappoints! our visit this year on 14/01/26 was amazing and the two waiting staff that helped us on this visit were amazing! i forgot to ask names but it was a woman and a man. thank you again! xxx

We visited Durham to see my daughter who is studying at the University. We ate at a few restaurants but by far this was the best food, service, atmosphere and value for money. I have never eaten such perfectly cooked chicken breast in my life and the starter of scallops was delicious and a great sized portion. Thank you so much.

Quite cosy. Small Italian restaurant in Durham. If looking for authentic Italian cuisine this is the place. Unless off peak, otherwise reservations is a must. We are lucky to have a table for two at 4 pm during weekend. Around 5 pm is almost full.
