Bistro Bobette was the first Open Table restaurant in Richmond we visited and, eight years later, it still delivers tasty food and fine service. On this visit we started with beet, fennel, and walnut salad with goat cheese then moved on to rabbit for me and beef medallions for my husband. The rabbit was perfectly prepared on a bed of root veggies, olives and spaetzle, well suited to the meat. My husband said the beef was cooked to a perfect medium and the sauce was a creamy peppercorn creation. For dessert we opted for the elderflower creme brulee, a great ending for a fine meal! The chef just switched to his fall menu so the online listing does not show the current options but everything we’ve ever had at Bistro Bobette has been delicious.

WOW… you cannot go wrong with Bistro Bobette. It reminds me of my favorite French restaurant in SF. Wait staff are highly educated in the food and drinks. Great with pairing drinks with your meal.

Quiet restaurant with a calming atmosphere and scrumptious food! The lunch here is reasonably priced and has a lot of different options. I tried the hot croque and was amazed at how delicious it was. It was served with fries and a curry ketchup (which was also ). Every night they seem to also have different specials going on (like a bring your own wine) so those seem worth checking out too!

Lovely atmosphere, excellent wine selection, and wonderful staff. They were extremely helpful in choosing the right wine, and they were very knowledgeable about where said wine is from and how the vines grow. The food was exciting and satisfying. I was full but I definitely wanted to eat more (my American stomach is greedy). I will definitely be back to try their other entrees.

Bistro Bobette is a must for lunch. Great Service and the food is uniquely different but very rewarding. My spouse had the corn crepe with chicken, cilantro, avocado, and sauce and it was delicious. I had the stuffed calamari with sauce and it was very good (very different taste which was pleasing and not fishy or chewy). We had the flan for dessert and it was light, flavorful, and had excellent presentation.
Our server was exceptional and ensured we had an enjoyable visit. We will come again!

Well after reading all the rave reviews I thought this place was going to be the best night for me and my husband to have dinner for Valentines Day. Man I was wrong! After arriving to the restaurant to find out that my reservations had been cancel for no reason at all, I had to wait to be seated. Reviewing the dinner menu excited to try some rabbit or duck I was limited to three appetizers, three entrees and three desserts. The food was cold and bland, I had to send my food back to be re-warmed to eat what was suppose to be the best dinner of the night. The escargot had sand in them. The bartender did not know how to make drinks that were very simple. How do you mess up an Old Fashion? I thought well at least if the food is horrible maybe the drinks will be better. The best part of the night was the wine, it truly saved the night. My husband told me not to judge them base upon our service but hell what can I say it was awful. I will try to give them another chance on a random night to see what the out come will be but as of now it was a (NO GO) for me.

In town for veteran’s convention. Chose this for no other reason than it was time to eat & we like nice places. Found a too limited menu, far too long wine list; but, no dark, ale style beer. Wife loved the “skate wing,” something new for her. I had the rib eye, smothered in mushroom sauce (oh, those French!). The steak was tender as anticipated, sauce a great accompaniment. Too few pommes fritz were quite tasty. Sandy was efficient & knowledgeable, her recommendations were spot-on. We enjoyed this restaurant – not typically garish French….

I rarely am afforded the opportunity to have lunch with my wife since we work about 45 minutes away from one another. I am sorry I wasted my lunch with her going to this restaurant. We were seated right away and our waitress was very nice which are the only positive aspects of our dining experience. Our food took approximately 40 minutes to arrive with no apology or explanation, so I am assuming this is a normal wait, but in my opinion far too long for a weekday lunch from work, especially when there are only four tables occupied in the restaurant.

I ordered the beef tenderloin on baguette, my wife had the buckwheat crepe. I asked for my tenderloins medium rare, one was rare, the other was raw and inedible. I complained to the waitress, but stated that I did not want more food- just for the manager to be made aware of the issue. Because of the long wait for the food, I just didn’t have time to wait for another order, even if it was cooked properly and arrived quickly. Our waitress apologized and returned after about 10 minutes (apparently conferring with someone in the kitchen) and offered to have my food re-cooked. I assumed (or hoped) she meant cook something new, but explained that I didn’t have the time. She apologized again and brought the check, no one else came to offer an apology. When I looked at the check I saw that my meal had not been taken off the bill, so apparently at Bistro Bobette they believe in charging customers for food that is inedible. I suppose my $16 lunch entree was more important than my continued business.

Bistro Bobette was not what I expected for happy hour. It was quiet and that was nice, but it took quite a while for my apps to arrive. I sat at the bar and ate. Several appetizers. The were very small. The cheese board was the best thing that I ordered and a better size then any of their happy hour specials. I really enjoyed the cheese board. Bar tender was nice and knowledgeable about the restaurant’s orgin. Might be good for a fancy French dinner. I wouldn’t recommend for a happy hour date or meet up.

Even though we didn’t have a reservation the hostess worked very hard to get us a table for two. We had the braised rabbit and scallops. Both dishes were very good. The “small plate” of pickled vegetables was barely a plate, but I’m not sure what I expected. I asked for a glass of wine with the entree, and while most servers forget this when I ask the one we had at Bistro Bobette was on top of things all night.
