I learned tonight I have the ability to enjoy Ethiopian food in the comfort of my own home and I only have to drive to Valpo to get it?? And it’s incredible! Blessings

I special ordered directly and arranged to pick up. They had said they would deliver if I were closer but they were so kind to meet me half way — so very nice. Their food is delicious! We love Ethiopian food and are so glad they’re around the area here. The bread is especially filling so we were stuffed and had left overs when we were finished. They’re kind, personal, and excellent!

Received a gift card for Ethiopian food. The owner graciously made our meal on her off day. It was so good. Every container was marked with what was in it. 3 if us ate with leftovers. Owner was so sweet and kind. Hope to order again.

We had such a fantastic experience. They were friendly and accommodating. The owner took our order and we couldn’t have been happier with the service we received. My husband hates spicy food, but I love it. We had never had Ethiopian food before and had no idea what to order. His suggestions couldn’t have been more spot on. Everything was DELICIOUS! 10/10 would definitely recommend.

This is some of the best Ethiopian food I’ve had outside of Ethiopia! Everything tasted fresh and authentic with warm and friendly owners who make you feel welcome as soon as you step in the door! I recommend the beef tibs and spicy chicken wot as they’re jam-packed fully of flavor. I will definitely be coming back (again and again!)

SO DELICIOUS! It is an absolute treat to have such a wonderful Ethiopian restaurant in Valpo. Don’t hesitate to try anything on the menu or ask the owners any questions: they’re so eager for you to have a wonderful experience!

I can’t recommend this place enough, and I can’t wait to go back again (I know this will be a regular destination for our house!)

We have always had amazing food from Biruh’s Kitchen. Last night we elevated our experience through their Personal Chef option. My five boys, husband, and I enjoyed making Injera and being present for the entire meal development from appetizers to meal and then coffee and tea in our own kitchen. This is a memory that will stay with us indefinitely. I highly recommend bringing in Biruh’s Kitchen as your personal chef!

We looked forward to trying this Ethiopian cuisine for a few months, and my daughter and I were 100% happy with dinner. We got into the vegetable samosas first. They are wonderfully seasoned on their own; add the sauce, and your taste buds blast off. Then we sampled the chicken samosas. They start beautifully, with a warm deliciousness, then a subtle heat follows. Add the sauce to experience the same heightened flavor sensation.

Tibs and gomen atikilt were the main entrées. And we were lucky enough to score a chicken leg Doro Wot. The beef tibs are phenomenal. The gomen atikilt might be the best potatoes and cabbage I’ve eaten. The Doro Wot was tender and delightful. All three dishes have a warmth and spice profile apparently unique to Ethiopian food.

I ditched my fork and ate with the Injera. It’s a tangy, lemony flat bread perfect for picking up and eating the food then sopping up any remaining sauce on the plate.

Find Biruh’s Kitchen holding forth in “Nona’s Kitchen.” You can order in advance from their online menu.

They also told me we’ll see them at the Valpo Farmer’s Market this summer. I can’t wait for more.

A truly delightful meal. Thank you!

What’s for dessert??
