The food is good. It’s not cheap, but you normally get a good portion, and it’s filling.
I really want to love this place, but the inconsistency is really starting to make it difficult.

First off, towards the beginning of the year, when we tried to call in orders, they had changed their number, and when you looked it up, it came up as a completely different name: “Taqueria Mucho.” There was no explanation, it still said Birrieria Tijuana on the building, and there was no mention of any changes.

Over the summer, they weren’t even staying open their advertised hours, although that seems to have been resolved.

Also, you used to get lots of onions, limes, and sauces to go with your tacos, but even that has changed for the worse. Last time, we ordered 12 tacos and got two bags of onions and limes. Each bag is good for about two tacos. This time, just one bag for 10 tacos, and the limes have definitely seen better days. I understand if they felt they were wasting food and wanted to changed the portions, but then communicate. I get not everyone eats them. I personally don’t need 5. I’d have been fine with 2 or 3 bags, but not 1. Then, they tie the takeout bags off, so you can’t check your order. Nothing is worse than getting home to find out you don’t have onions. Certainly not driving 10-15 mins each way to go back and have cold food. The other taco place I go to asks you each time how many salsas you want and gives you exactly that many. Would be pretty easy to do that here.

Furthermore, they now use to-go containers that don’t breathe, so I got home to 10 soggy tacos that cost over $50. Maybe they ended up with the wrong ones from a vendor, but then take a few minutes to cut holes in like other places do.

I get it, times are tough in the restaurant industry, but $50 for soggy tacos, barely any onions, and no limes doesn’t make me want to spend money here.

Service was great, Server was on top of everything from taking our orders, delivering our food, and the bonus is making sure if we wanted more drinks added. Not a lot of restaurants these days do that. She checked on us to see how our meals were tasting on top of checking in on other customers as well. If you like just a chilled and laid back place to dine in I recommend checking them out. Their horchata drinks are so delish! Didn’t take any picture of that.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Ordered a bisteak meal, asked for low carb due to special diet. I got a lightweight plate, with very little food. There’s no way to get the value of food if you don’t eat carbs or sugars here. I was very hungry, and ate it anyways, and the quality was not so good either. Having very little flavor, the “meal” was mostly onions and grease, very little meat I won’t return.

We drive by all the time and finally stopped in. Only customers and food came out really fast. We just tried the birria tacos with consome. The tacos and consome were perfect. Nice little salsa bar with different salsas, cucumbers, pickled red onion, diced onions with cilantro. The cashier was really nice and informative on where the salad bar was and restrooms. The place is big enough for parties. I believe they have beer and liquor but I just had a jarritos.

Ordered the 10 taco with birria fries and churros for $52. Comes in a big aluminum tin and cover. Got home everything was cold, fries white cold and undercooked, maybe a small ice cream scoop of meat in each cold stale taco (looks like maybe a spoon full, far less than the past 3 times I’ve been here). Called and brought it back they were very accommodating gave me a full refund and remade order. We opened the top and everything looked better. Got home (5min drive) take a bite into the taco and it’s stale and cold inside. Taco shell tough as jerky. Fries were cold in the middle.

It seems they are keeping these aluminum tins premade and attempting to reheat them for Togo orders, as both containers were warm to the touch containing old and cold-in-the-center food.

Would be 1 star if they hadn’t been super nice about the whole ordeal, which they were. Top customer service. But overall inedible food

If I could give more than five stars, I would! Birrieria Tijuana is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant. Every time I walk in, I know I’m about to have something unforgettable. The birria is absolutely out of this world—rich, flavorful, and perfectly tender. The consommé is so good I could drink it by the gallon, and the tacos are consistently fresh, juicy, and packed with flavor.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. You can tell the staff take real pride in what they do, and it shows in every plate they bring out. It feels like you’re not just eating at a restaurant, but being welcomed into someone’s home where every detail is made with love.

Whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, Birrieria Tijuana never disappoints. This is THE place I always recommend to friends and family—and honestly, no other birria compares. Truly a gem!

Amazing food and great service. A must try!

My wife and I had the cheesy tacos with the consommé. The tacos were crispy and flavorful, and the consommé was beefy and a wonderful companion to the taco. We finished with the churros and ice cream which was good, but the churros were ok.

The service was amazing and though there were some “opening week” issues being ironed out, we were attended to quickly and all our needs were met.

The layout could use some breaking up of the layout; it feels a little like a cafeteria, being so open. The music cut out and was being played through a portable speaker instead of the installed sound system, ut it’s opening week, I’m sure this won’t be the norm.
