Our server Austin was on top of every dish and specialty items featured on the menu. Everything he suggested or recommended was filled with flavor and made you second guess why you didn’t come in sooner. I threw my fork twice because the food was THAT good.
If you’re ever in the area or not, its definitely worth the drive!
Dino Rib is big enough for 2 people/DELICIOUS/ fatty but I know how to eat it and make soup from the fat. Cookie great and cake is tasty-maybe not $9 big but it’s decadent. The squash appetizer dish was the only dish I could have not gotten. It was tasty but it’s butternut squash so it’s just not as fun but it was appreciated and most restaurants don’t serve this. The crabcakes were top tier. Homemade, fresh and perfect as flavor. The kale salad was enormous and savory. I’d order that every time I came. So was the chopped salad. Wow two for two on the salads. I removed the cheese and it’s perfect for me. The quesadillas were great also. I ordered the ribs to go. The ribs weren’t southern bbq style. They had good crisp/ looked great and were ok. Strongly dislike the bbq sauce, lime and pickled onion. Can you tell I wanted to try everything, lol. And there were still other items. I’m interested to try like the steak, chicken. They also have specials that I didn’t notice until I was leaving. My server could have mentioned the specials, the dessert, her name and made more eye contact, but she did well and the food came out fast. Good vibes in this place with a wide open layout. The cushion back chairs were very comfy. You sink into them like a marshmallow. The other singular seats were comfortable as well, but I almost wish they had a chair arm. The restrooms were a bit funky, which is fine, it’s a restroom, but the restrooms typically are supposed to have some air freshening system or spray available. Lovely restroom decor. We will add this place to our favorites and definitely come back again. This is my kind of spot.
1 . Presentation of the food was very pretty to the eye. They pay good attention to the detail. I like all the bright colored plates!
2. Service was impeccable. Our server was extremely good – above and beyond. I don’t recall his name. His manners were wonderful, he checked on us just the right amount of time and ensured we were pleased with all items.
3. Food was tasty. My favorite was the sweet potato appetizer dish. The chicken was good but I prefer it off the bone – which is actually why I’m just now coming here, as I like boneless breast. They have interesting selection of cocktails.
4. Decorated well inside. It does get a bit loud
Definitely worth checking out! I’d come again and try some other items – and get the sweet potatoes every time !
Food is top notch. Great execution on the food, always a great cook on the meats and fresh produce, incredibly unique and excellent flavors. Every week they do a different homemade hot sauce on the table, and it’s always fantastic. The crabs appetizer is weirdly my kids favorite – super garlicky, but with some acid in the sauce to cut it. All their mains are superb – the ribs are some of the best anywhere (very serious, they slap).
Service has always been excellent, friendly. Really nice people, attentive.
The spot has a really good vibe. Underrated patio in the Larkin across from the historic Oakland Cemetery, and the interior is classy and a great vibe. Big glass paned garage doors go up and connect the bar to the patio.
Drinks are like the food: super unique, interesting, but approachable and delicious. Nothing is a concoction for no reason; everything tastes intentional.
It’s one of those places you try once and it’s like, ok, it’s a really good place, I hope it stays open. But when you come a second or a third time it’s like whoa, it’s better and better.
Their burger wasn’t bad, but it was my least favorite of the 7 I tried that week. I like chorizo, but it overpowered the burger and that’s all I could taste. We also had the special crawfish quesadilla, pretty good, just not that cheesy. We weren’t getting drinks, but man are they expensive 15 dollars for regular drinks and 13 for non alcoholic. Those prices kind of irritate me.
The ambience is pretty fun, like flamboyant Miami vibes. Bright colorful and fun. You can sit outside but the patio is no frills. Feel they could do something to make it a bit more welcoming, like flower boxes and table decor.
I would try it again, I feel I didn’t get their best that Monday of Cinco de mayo. I think a fun spot for young adults.
Bottom line: really vibrant spot with good food and expensive drinks.
As for the food, it was even better than the service. We had the dino rib and chorizo clams. The rib was extremely tender and juicy. Definitely will be back
