I’m new to the area and got a custom birthday cake for my daughter here. The cake was delicious and beautiful. The coffee is great as are the pastries.
Will be adding this as a regular stop for days out with the family.

Hands down my favorite of all the places we visited in Montpelier! The ham and cheese croissant and maple ginger latte were phenomenal. Lots of options, friendly service, and a long (but fast moving) line so you know it’s good.

I stop in often on my way home from overnight shifts. They have a fabulous London Fog and the croissants are so buttery and beautiful. Yum.

I have been over to Birchgrove a handful of times since moving to Montpelier and it is hands down the best energy in a bakery and cafe I’ve been to yet. A beautiful compliment of kind and genuine staff, remarkably tasty products no matter what you choose, and they sell a smattering of local goods that have made great options for gifts for me and others in the form of handmade pottery and dried flower arrangements. You won’t go wrong taking a visit here. And if you’ve got time to stop, take a peek around back at the lovely little porch on the river.

Smooth coffee, baked goods that are absolutely worth a day trip or stopover. Made with local fresh ingredients and with love. Scones, cinnamon twists, blueberry shortcake which looks like a pot pie. You can’t go wrong with anything in the case. It’s a popular spot with locals and a 10 minute walk from the capitol area. Service is friendly and easy going. We took ours to go and sat outside in the downtown area. Limited seats outside.

Sublime – just don’t get there too late or the tea cakes (mini cake financier of sorts) will be gone. Give yourself a treat and ask for a coffee (cortado anyone?) and pair it with a butter croissant. A baking team and staff dedicated to excellence – and it shows.

Really tasty baked goods and very kind folks. It’s worth the 10-15 minute walk from the denser parts of downtown.
Edit: I went back again the next day and tried more pastries. All delicious!!

Birchgrove is always wonderful to deal with! We have ordered many cakes over the years from them-some special order, and some from the cake library…they are always of the highest quality! The staff is so kind and helpful, the pastries are outstanding, and their maple latte is perfection! Montpelier is so lucky to have Birchgrove!

What this bakery manages to create daily for its customers is nothing short of extraordinary. The owners and staff are beyond talented. I have ordered my holiday treats from them for years and they never disappoint. When I stop in before a work day and surprise my coworkers with a box of goodies from Birchgrove, it makes us all have a better day! I’m embarrassed it has taken me so long to leave a review, but I appreciate having Birchgrove in our central VT community! Thank you Birchgrove, WE LOVE YOU!
