A Miami Valley tradition since 1960, the shop founded by Bill and Faye Elam originated in downtown Dayton. In the early years, Bill’s Donut Shop opened locations in Vandalia, Wilmington, Kettering, and Huber Heights. Over time, Bill’s Donuts decided to focus its resources and talents in one store location, and has been serving fresh donuts, pastries, and coffee 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at its current Centerville location at 268 North Main Street since 1979.
Landmark bake shop turning out donuts, cookies, pastries & coffee in an old-fashioned setting.

I would really like to have a nice donut shop in Centerville area, and I gave this place a couple tries. These donuts do not taste good because of the giant amount of sugar and oil you use for making the donuts. I’m not writing it to be mean, but really guys you need to make better quality donuts from a good (healthy) oil, flour, sugar, etc. Look for example, other donut shops like ‘Five daughters bakery’. Once you improve the quality, you’ll see how more people will enjoy it and recommend them to others. Good luck with that!

Love EVERYTHING about Bill’s. It’s always fun and the donuts are ALWAYS good! They’re always really sweet to my son too (he’s 3) and he always gets a free munchkin when we wait in line. Well priced for donuts of such quality too!

A First-Hand Visit to Bill’s Donut Shop
I’ve enjoyed Bill’s donuts at countless meetings and events around the valley, but I finally made my first direct visit to their shop. I can confirm what I’ve always suspected: these are easily some of the best donuts in the area!
Beyond the fantastic selection of donuts and varieties, they also serve pretty decent coffee. The shop itself is inviting, offering both indoor seating and outdoor chairs if you prefer to relax with your coffee and donut al fresco. It’s a great spot to grab a treat and unwind.

Bill’s has a great doughnut. Anyone who lives here knows that. My absolute favorite thing about Bill’s is that I can order online, set a pickup time and be in and out in seconds. This makes it easy to stop by before work and still get there on time. (Although, if you’re bringing doughnuts who’s going to complain you’re a few minutes late.)

Disappointed. I visited my son at college and he said this place was open all hours and a good stop. The kids working there were unprofessional and the one who waited on us was downright snotty. Unhelpful, unfriendly. Then when I got my donut (in the car, I couldn’t wait), there was no filling in the first bite. The cake part is dry so you definitely need the filling. I cut it open and spread it out and it helped. There were no chocolate filling options. There were no longhorns with white creme. The jelly filled had more filling (still not enough) but the lemon had no flavor at all. The other pastries looked good and I had thought to go back for some, but not sure now. Even my son thought customer service was bad.

The amount of positive reviews for this place is deceiving. The donuts at Bill’s are NOT that good and are NOT special in any way. Glaze is gritty and donuts need to be lighter & fluffier. The line to be served is always excessively long and slow. For the cost of donuts and volume of customers I would expect the atmosphere to be much nicer.

Our family would like to continue loving Bill’s Donuts but we just can’t. Too often the donuts taste dry being over baked and/or sitting out too long. Not sure if they’re making larger batches and leaving the donuts out longer, but it’s a consistent issue. Our family has been going to Bill’s regularly since 1991 and before the ownership change, the donuts were soft and fresh tasting with very few exceptions. Not anymore. We’re throwing in the towel and finding another place with more consistency after giving the new guys a very fair shot with dozens of visits. Watching family members throw out their donuts because they were so dry and hard was the last straw. We’re saddened to make this decision. 🙁

Go go go! If you are anywhere decently near it is worth the drive every time.
We’ve been going almost weekly to try a different donut from their wide arrange. I have to say, my favorite remains their sour cream donut. I repeat, SOUR CREAM IS #1.
But if it’s not your thing they have so much more. A wide variety of cake donuts, filled donuts, pastries, muffins, and more!
A hidden gem, the prices are still very reasonable, especially when compared to big chain donut stores. Staff is kind and ready to answer questions about their delicious selection.
There is seating inside the building. A few booths and a few bar stool style chairs are available for you to enjoy your treats and coffee. Free parking as well as public restrooms.
They also have pick up and delivery options through their website so if you want to order ahead or not leave your couch check it out!
Bill’s is a treasure! Try it at any hour of any day!

This was our first time at Bills. We got an assortment of the dozen and it was reasonably priced. The staff were really nice while we decided what we wanted. We went later into the night. The only thing that could use improvement is having signs of what everything is in front of the pastries. That way you don’t have to keep asking the staff what everything is.

My friend and I stopped in for the first time yesterday, it was around 3:00 in the afternoon, and the place was booming! I’ve never seen such a busy donut shop…especially at that time in the afternoon. Crazy!
Tons of donuts to choose from, along with a variety muffins, pastries, and a few other random things.
The lady who helped me was friendly and helpful, as I had several questions as I made my selections. Unfortunately, the lady who helped my friend wasn’t. She seemed visibly annoyed and wasn’t very friendly at all. My friend felt rushed by her, so she didn’t get to try everything she really wanted to get.
I could immediately tell how weighty my box was, so these were some hefty donuts! The yeast donuts are more dense than the typical donut, but very good. Loved the cream horn made with doughnut dough, rather than the classic flaky pastry. I liked everything, but the cake donuts were my favorite from the box, the sour cream and old fashioned stick were at the top of my list.
I will definitely make a point in stopping by next time I’m in the area. Hopefully the unfriendly lady behind the counter will have a different attitude next time. Unfriendly service can turn a customer away no matter how good the product is…
