Bills is one of the best tasting pulled pork BBQ sandwiches I’ve ever had in my opinion and I gave the highest compliment to the guy that i always see back there in the kitchen that took my order that day ,which I believe is the owner of bill’s. He had nothing to say not even a smile or a thank you and just gave me a blank stare like he didn’t even appreciate the compliment , almost like it offended him or something! I will still eat there but won’t bother speaking to him ever again and would have gave bill’s 5 stars if it weren’t for his rude attitude!!

Great tasting option over the local fast food restaurants. Great tasting barbecue, hamburgers, pulled pork, smoked ham, fries, potato salad and more. Conveniently located just off 8th Street on your way into town. Plenty of parking and a cool old school atmosphere. Worth the visit on the way to see the Superman statue.

Stopped off for ethanol, had to get a picture of Superman and just couldn’t stand anymore fast food. Super fresh BBQ done right! Had a pulled pork, smoked ham and a cheeseburger. Potato salad, slaw and beans rounded out a perfect lunch.

I have spent decades working with pork in my kitchen. I have babied and coddled it: baked, fried, simmered, and smoked it, burned through cookbook pages and my mother’s memory in a vain effort to deliver up pork that – I have just discovered – Bill’s BBQ in Metropolis, IL, turns out on a daily basis. Bill’s is locally owned (by Bill, naturally) and operated by Bill, his sister, father, and nephew As a rule, I balk at less than full service restaurants but the BBQ was so good, the restaurant so bright and cheerful, and Bill’s sister was so helpful reviewing the menu choices and keeping my tea refreshed, that placing my own order and getting my own iced tea was a small price to pay, and I have now scrapped my preference for being waited on hand and foot.

A local BBQ restaurant with charm. Located across from Fort Massac state park in Metropolis, Illinois, “Bill’s” offers a wonderful selection: bbq sandwiches, superb ribs, fries, Baked beans, nachos. Crunchy onion rings. They also serve breakfast. The portions are impressive, and all is tasty. We ate in because of the weather, but its location makes it convenient to pickup food and eat in park. If you are in Metropolis, make sure to stop and have local BBQ. The house sauce is superb too.

Great food! The people were amazing! Extremely busy but food came out fast. You can tell this is homemade. I ate the pulled pork with cheese and mild sauce. The pork melted in your mouth. My family wishes we lived closer to come more often.
