A gem! We loved spending the day here watching kayakers and tubers make their way down the river—it’s such a fun and lively scene. The river is easily accessible, and we were able to wade in and cool off while taking in the beautiful surroundings.
There’s a great balance of adventure and relaxation here. Whether you’re exploring the outdoors or just soaking it all in, it’s the perfect spot. We appreciated having two restaurants on-site—one with cozy indoor dining and the other with outdoor seating and fantastic views of the water. It was the ideal place to grab a bite and people-watch, as the area is full of energy with folks just hanging out and enjoying the day.

Location, location, location—Big Wesser Riverside Pub has it. Right on the river at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, this is one of those spots where the setting does half the work. But the food and service hold up too.
We stopped in for lunch and had a grilled chicken salad and nacho bowl—both solid, fresh, and came out fast. Staff were friendly and efficient, even with a steady stream of rafters and bikers rolling in and out all day. But the real show? Once a day, a scenic train pulls in and unloads passengers for lunch. It’s a sight—and adds to the whole experience.
Live music during the summer, outdoor seating with a river view, and cold drinks within arm’s reach. If you’re in the area, this is a great place to sit back, refuel, and enjoy the mountains. Will absolutely be back.

Just sitting here creekside having a cold draft beer. Listening to music and the creek. Watching the paddlers try and do the water course. Great place for family’s or couples. Getting major island in the mountains vibes. Puppies welcome. Sit back in the shade at a table or lounge in a chair. Absolutely beautiful.. parking can be a bit tricky. I would recommend you stop and enjoy this beautiful place in the North Carolina mountains.

Simple menu. Good food. We had three tacos. I like that they allow you to mix and match. I had the carnitas, shrimp ceviche, and chicken. Fresh lettuce. Tomatoes and crumble cheese.
Nice spot to have a drink by the water. They have a good local beer selection and some tasty mixed drinks.
Plenty of seating on the deck and down by the river. Big parking lot and live music on Friday night.

Always love this place! It takes a bit to get to but everything does in the mountains. Sitting by the river with an adult beverage and music is so enjoyable!

That was the most disgusting, vile, pitiful excuse for food I have ever put in my mouth. Everything was cold, slimy, and overpriced.
Worst thing I’ve ever had, inedible!

Over priced for the quality and quantity of food. I personally would avoid. Try the Rivers End Restaurant if you are in need of sustenance.
Bottom line – great view, terrible food.

Food was okay, since Helene dogs are no longer allowed inside, except service animals. Staff are friendly and nice but you get the sense it is show for the visitors and that they are still suffering the effects of the devastation.
