I had an awesome experience at Big Oven Pizza in Kearny Mesa. The pizza was absolutely delicious—perfect crust, fresh toppings, and honestly some of the best flavor balance I’ve had in San Diego. The prices are great too, especially considering the quality and portion size. A special shoutout to Matt he was amazingly friendly, patient, and made sure everything came out just right. His customer service alone makes me want to come back. Highly recommend this spot if you want great pizza, great value, and genuinely warm service. I’ll definitely be returning!

This was my first time ordering from Big Oven Pizza, and I will be back! I ordered a pepperoni and jalapeno pizza. It had plenty of flavor and a bit of kick too. The gentleman who helped me at the counter was very friendly and was the do it all person. The inside of the restaurant is clean, organized, and well lit. If you are looking for a NY style pizza, this is definitely a choice I would recommend in and around the Kearney Mesa area. It’s always nice to see small businesses open up. I can’t wait to try some other toppings on my next visit. Eat up!!!

Wow!! Amazing pizza. 18″ New York style pep and sausage with extra meat was heaven in a slice! Perfect thickness for crust and the only extra we would have enjoyed is a little extra sauce. We will definitely be back for more!

I have a love hate relationship with this place. I live right down the street so it’s super convenient.

But I’m at about a 50/50 success rate here.

When it’s good, it’s REALLY good, one of my fav. But about half the time I order, it’s super burnt and all I can taste is the char. Frustrating.

If it was more consistent and wasn’t burnt so often, I’ve be here a lot more

From the moment we walked into this charming pizzeria, we knew we were in for a treat. The cozy atmosphere, welcoming staff, and irresistible smell of fresh-baked dough set the perfect tone for an unforgettable meal.
We ordered a classic Margherita and one of their signature specialty pizzas (we went with the “Wise Guy,” which had spicy mushroom, ricotta and fennel italian sausage). Both were cooked to perfection —the crust was chewy yet crisp. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, from the creamy ricotta to the bright San Marzano tomato sauce.
What really impressed us was the attention to detail. The balance of flavors on each pizza was thoughtfully done, and you could tell they truly care about their craft. Even the presentation was beautiful.
The service was top-notch: friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They made great recommendations and even checked in to see how we liked everything (which we absolutely did!).
Whether you’re a die-hard pizza lover or just looking for a great place to eat, this pizzeria is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back—and bringing friends with us next time!

Scheduled a pick up for 5:15. Order was ready at 4:45. Got the pizzas home and we were very disappointed. The Detroit was cold and the cheese was rubbery. The Arugalino had no fig jam and very little prosciutto. The other pizza was pretty okay, even if the crust was hard to bite through. I think that ordering three pizzas was giving them a decent shot. Very disappointed, will not be returning.

Really enjoyed our pizzas, especially the Strata NY pie which was delicious. The Detroit style Chicken Bacon Ranch was really good as well. Love that there is a great local place to pick up a yummy pizza on the way home from work.

Hard to go wrong with pizza.

Tasted pretty good but I got the Detroit style pizza and it was like a loaf of bread with some sauce and cheese in a small puddle on the top. Not sure if it’s always like that or they were running short of topping.

Reasonably tasty though, like I said. But definitely avoid if you’re not a fan of plain bread.

The quality of ingredients is average. The NY style has a lot of hard crust can be improved on. A new updated look from the old Mom and Dom’s Pizza with more variety of different pizzas to choose from. A friendly staff behind the counter. You can expect to spend around $25 for a 18 inch pizza.

Disappointing pizza. The Neapolitan is clearly not an actual Neapolitan, just a small NY. The NY pizza is fine but not as good as many other pizza joints nearby. The Detroit pie was underbaked with visibly soggy/raw dough and no crispy edges.
