We were so excited to try Big Moons. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. We ordered two Brisket sandwiches and a side of greens. There wasn’t enough meat to fill the buns- and half of it was fat. Literally. The meat was lukewarm at best. The buns were very dense and cold. Completely too much bread. The greens were ok. We picked apart our 30 dollar lunch and left hungry.
Note: We don’t shy away from a high price point. However, we do expect the product to match the price. And this was certainly anything but that.

Driving back to Seattle from Aberdeen I spotted the billboard for Big Moons bbq and Southern food. I pulled into Montesano and walked around for a bit. Upon walking in I was greeted by all the staff. Felt very warm and welcoming.
The food is priced competitively for what you expect in Washington state. I ordered the Rib combo w candied yams and Mac and cheese.
Flavorful ribs that don’t need bbq sauce and passes the pull test. Mac and cheese is savory and creamy. I could have ate the candied yams by themselves.
An addition of sweet tea and a fountain drink
Machine would be nice. No beer or alcohol they have water and canned soda.
Plenty of seating-more wooden tables would be nice I love community seating.

We were really excited to try this place out. I think the small Grays Harbor Community is so lucky to have this different cuisine available.
The service was warm and attentive. I loved that you could smell the BBQ even outside, the inside is airy and clean, and the dining experience was very casual and fun.
The food was really really good; the brisket had a good smoke on it and it was TENDER. I loved their BBQ sauce. It might sound silly, but my favorite was the southern green beans; they are PACKED with flavor.
We’ll be back to try other stuff!

Mac n’ cheese was amazing. Brisket huge disappointment. Dry, flavorless. No smoke ring at all. Everything is kept in a hot bar and just kind of scooped together. Very expensive for what I got. $24 for 4 slices of dry meat and 2 tablespoons of sides.

Fantastic southern style BBQ in a quaint, gorgeous, northwestern part of the country. I enjoyed a delicious BBQ sandwich with Cole Slaw and Beans. Veteran-run business, with delicious food, friendly staff, and quick service. Get there early because they do run out of food.

I had to come to Montesano for some business and saw this little BBQ place. I am from North Carolina and there is not a lot of good southern BBQ out here. This place is top notch, service was great food is amazing. I got a brisket sandwich with Mac & Cheese and a piece of corn bread. First the brisket was cooked to perfection it was very flavorful didn’t even need the bbq sauce even though the bbq sauce was great. The Mac & Cheese was not your normal Mac and Cheese it has some Cajun flare and was exceptional. The cornbread was hot and dense and tasted great. All the portions were great for the price.

Moons is phenomenal every time we get it and everything we try. The chicken? Amazing. The beans? Stellar. The pulled pork sandwich? Incredible.

I love this place! The owner and his staff are kind, friendly and upbeat. You can tell they are committed to running a great eatery. Our food was provided to us quickly and in nice sized portions. Very nice layout, lots of space and very clean, with a warm and rustic feel. Two of us had pulled pork sandwiches and my son had a brisket sandwich. We shared sides of mac & cheese and beans. The meat was probably the best pulled pork I’ve had, the Mac & cheese was flavorful, moist and divine! The beans were very good, with that wonderful pork throughout. The bbq sauce is fantastic and a bottle is provided on your table. I cannot wait to return, looking forward to trying the greens on Sunday. I highly recommend a visit to Big Moon’s!

I had a pulled pork sandwich and my boyfriend had a brisket sandwich, both were absolutely delicious!
Also had the banana pudding for dessert in which I’m a sucker for banana pudding and again, was not disappointed! Repeat customer here we come!

We picked up a generous sample of everything but chicken (that’s next) and took it over to our sister-in-law’s house for her birthday. Everything was great! The brisket was moist and very flavorful, the ribs were cooked to perfection, and the pulled pork was just as good as everything else. The sides were the perfect add-on to the entire meal and were outstanding. Thank you so much!
