One of my favorite spots to eat in the Folsom area, portions are pretty generous and consistent and the staff is always super friendly. The “Pick 2 plate” is my go-to but their Loco Moco is a 10/10 as well.

Moved up to the foothills from the Bay Area back in late 2019……. HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A GOOD HAWAIIAN PLATE SINCE!! Until i found BIG ISLAND!!! This place is amazing everything you could ask for from a Hawaiian restaurant, food was amazing, reminded me of home. The staff was super friendly and helpful!! They gave me so much extra sauce and I only asked for one!! Plus they have MusibiMondays half off MUSUBIS!!!! Best Hawaiian BBQ in the FOOTHILLS!!!!

My visit here today was great the food was cooked just right and tasted delicious, but I always find it to be a waste of cabbage that is placed under the chicken katsu because I don’t know anyone that actually eats it.. everything was the best especially the cold soft serve of the famous Dole Whip Yumm!!
Overall great location this that could be improved cooks wearing hair nets, and if there isn’t a proper lunch room for the employees atleast make sure they aren’t eating their self made food at the counter.

Looking for a fast food alternative? This is the place to go!
1. Food: the season and taste of the teriyaki beef and Kalua pork cooked just right and seasoned wonderfully. The flavors weren’t overwhelming or heavy to the palette.
Rice is similar to Japanese rice, which goes perfect with the sauces you can add on and the cabbage gives the final touch needed. The cabbage taste fresh and sliced thinly so add on to every bite.
The Mac and cheese amazing! You won’t be disappointed.
They run great deals, like Musubi Mondays 50% (a type of Hawaiian sushi they explained). I loved that the fountain drinks have some premixed drinks and not only the typical sodas.
2. Atmosphere and place: clean, well mantened, great to hang out. Regular tables, high top tables and a little countertop area. Good for groups or if you are by yourself. Very contemporary and easy menus to understand. Bathrooms also very clean and with full supplies.
The music is relaxing – island vibe – even in the bathrooms.
3. Service: excellent. Very helpful, respectful, patience and clean looking.
The chefs as well.
Definitely a good team because they bring your food out fast.

I used to really like this restaurant. I recently got the terriyaki beef and katsu. The beef is a way lower quality than it used to be. It has the taste and texture of a frozen meal. There was 5 pieces of small katsu and the Mac salad has almost no flavor. I hope the change to the beef is temporary.

First time trying this Hawaiian BBQ place, the meat is good but here’s some reason for three stars. People behind me and after me both got their food, my wait time is 24 minutes for two plates. It’s more pricy than Ono or LnL but the Mac salad cost more if sub white rice. Also found a lively cockroach underneath the table after order the food. Idk if I should recommend this place it’s your choice

Such good food! I’ve had hawaiian bbq many times! This is my favorite! The mac salad is best! Teriyaki beef is on point! Clean restaurant and friendly service. I will definitely return and share my experience with everyone
