Came here for the first time, and everything was delicious! We all got the ayce fish. It was so good! Got a big basket of fries with it and a salad. Good value for the money. I was told I had to get the cheese curds from chef Kaleb,and we were glad we did, best we’ve had! The service could have been better, but it was a full house. It wasn’t because she was on her phone or out smoking, she was hustling. The place looked nice inside, and they also have daily specials. Looked like a full bar, too. My husband loved the hush puppies and said the tartar sauce was awesome. Thanks so much for recommending this place, Kaleb!!

Great Fish, But a Few Disappointments.
I ordered the Family Fish Box (2 lbs), which came with four rolls and a pint of tartar sauce, plus six teriyaki wings and a box of curly fries.
The fish was terrific, honestly, my new #1 spot for fish. Until now, my favorite was The Main Bowl/Main Frame in Columbia City, but this first visit to Big Eyed Fish Tri Lakes might have taken the crown. The deep-fried battered fish had amazing flavor, and the 2 lbs were more than enough for two big eaters like us, with leftovers that could easily feed two more adults.
The rolls were soft and very good, but I wish they had been warm. That might be on me since I got the family take-home special, and I live about 5 miles from the restaurant. The same goes for the curly fries, they were soggy, probably from being closed up in the box and steaming. I prefer mine crispy.
One disappointment: the pint of tartar sauce wasn’t enough. I’d suggest at least a pint per pound of fish for a family box.
The biggest letdown was the teriyaki wings. They were the worst I’ve had in years, tasted like they’d been pulled from the fridge and quickly deep-fried, then sauced. Not fresh at all.
Also, a small gripe: I understand costs are high, but I don’t love being charged extra to pay with a debit or credit card. In my opinion, that fee should be absorbed by the business, not passed on to the customers.
Overall: Great place, great fish, friendly people, but skip the wings, eat the fries fast, and bring extra tartar sauce if you love it as much as I do.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in my entire life. Hardly any fish, and the fish I did get was terrible. The fries were completely freezer burnt and inedible. The baked potato smelled funny. Absolutely disgusting.

My family enjoyed our meals here at Big Eye Fish. The appetizers were breaded, deep-fried veggies (excellent choice) with dipping sauce. I had the Bluegill dinner with a salad and green beans (prepared to tender perfection and delicious), another family member had the breaded tenderloin meal and mentioned how tenderloin and flavorful it was. Others had various versions of fish dinners, and none complained (and we are picky eaters). The meals were a success all around.
Our waitress was warm and attentive, and she kept our party of seven filled with drinks and conversation. Our meals came quickly (only one small mix-up), each plate hot and filled to the rim with savory goodness. All in all, for the entire party, we were truly well cared-for and enjoyed our experience at this great local gathering place.

This was a very lovely spot that my family stumbled upon. It has a great view of the lake, along with outside seating. The waitress was extremely polite and friendly. The food was equally as good. My husband had the cod, cooked perfectly. I had the shrimp, flavored and grilled perfectly. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Fourth time here, tonight, since opening. Hubby and I both had the 3 piece fish dinner with baked potato and tossed salad. Fish was overcooked, and, BTW, has never compared to the fish served from the food truck, which introduced CC to Big Eyed Fish. The baked potato and salad had, obviously, been waiting hours to be served – potato was cold plus grey in color and salad was room temp with wilted lettuce. Our service, on the other hand, was first class. We were both very disappointed.

Nice place for dinner. Inexpensive and you get value for your money spent. I had the Catfish dinner which had a light, crispy breading and the fish was hot and moist on the inside. We enjoyed our dinner and will return!
